« on: August 20, 2003, 09:53:41 am »

My Problem is similar to this (from the known bugs):
\"On some machines the loading of the world takes a lot of time (from 20 to 50 minutes). This is a bug because on other machines with similar hw and connection it takes 2 minutes.\"

At my machine the System freezing completly at loading the world. I wait for 5 Hours, but nothing is coming...i have to shut down the pc:-(

Anyone here who can help me?

I saw this thread slowly sliding down the page so I thought I should respond to it before it gets completely ignored.

Infact the reason for this post is to say that I do not know how to fix your problem. I know how frustrating it is to post a problem on a forum and have absolutely no replies- here, we try to answer everything, and the reason you\'ve had none is most likely because nobody knows of a solution.

The only thing I can think of is make sure your computer is not overheating and that your RAM is nice and healthy and not going \'bad\'. When playing any games that use hardware accelaration, the core temperature of your machine can rise by 10-15 degrees celcius, which could be enough to hit the shutdown temperature and freeze your machine. Considering PlaneShift is only a tech demo and usually struggles with performance, this is not an unreasonable conclusion... it\'s something you should look into.

Also note that, because PS is in alpha stages of development, it may not work at all on certain machines. This is unavoidable and very unfortunate. Perhaps you should wait untill Crystal Blue is released and try to play again. Hopefully the stability of the game would have improved and such bugs ironed out.

Now that your thread is back at the top of the page, I hope others will take more notice and give their two cents. Good luck. :)
