Wont load world
« on: September 05, 2003, 01:41:41 am »
After i click connect (i already made my character) it goes to the load screeen where it loads gui and such, but when it gets to world it freezes and shuts down.  Any help?  Im running a high end comp with lots of ram.
And one more thing, will the final version of this game be free to?

Torlen, saying \"I have a good comp and lots of RAM\" is not helpful. If you\'re going to tell us your specs, tell us your exact specs, please.

Also tell us what graphics card you have, what mode you\'re running the game in (software/OpenGL) and if you received any error messages.

Load-and-crash
« Reply #3 on: September 05, 2003, 03:08:30 am »
Hi Folks!

I downloaded the client yesterday and most I\'ve done till now is to read the threads about the loading problems. I passed the linkdead problem and now I\'m struck when the client crashes when \"Loading World\". I\'m using a 1GHz Athlon, 256RAM and a Voodoo3 3000, driving on XP SP1. Since I could not get Glide to work (the three-button-only problem), I trying to run the client in software mode. Can you give me some clue? :(

Wow, three people with similar problems all at once... well, I know these problems have been answerd before, but the simplest answer is to make sure that it isn\'t just taking a really long time to load the first time- I\'ve heard of load times of up to two hours, but it would depend on your graphics card and processor speed.

Thanks for the reply, zabeal.

I\'ll try to be a good boy and wait as long as it takes  :] .
Well, it leads me to another question: will it take all this times regardless the Internet connection I have? I\'m using a 320kbps ADSL... wouldn\'t be supposed to load faster?

Unfortuantely, there is almost nothing being downloaded from the server, so a 28.8 modem would be about the same as yours. THe delay is due to loading the graphics, they have promised in later versions the graphics will be more refined and load faster... we can only hope!
