What? Another Virus!? =/
« on: September 06, 2003, 10:48:04 pm »
Heads up everyone, this one\'s an incurable Trojan. Incurable, but if you find it you can delete it.

The files you might find on your computer are bb.class, verifierbug.class and file9999.chk <-- that last one will specifically be in the root folder of your harddrive if you are infected.

Updated virus scanners will detect and quarantine this virus but as I said, no fix is yet available. You\'ll have to replace any files that are infected after you delete them.

Search on the \'net for these files and you will find some scattered pieces of information, but it\'s quite new and not much is known as of yet.

I only reported this as I do not yet know where I caught it from. It\'s a Javascript trojan, seemingly a gateway for the real threat to access your computer. Some websites say it is not an \"in the wild\" trojan, meaning you will not pick it up randomly but may become infected by installing downloaded programs.

People that were picked on at school. People that seek vengeance.
Browsing the forums when I\'m bored, nothing more.

I once heard some survey somewhere or something like that, and apparantly, the main reason people write viruses is to impress their girlfriends.

Man.. You must be a real loser to create a virus only to impress a girl
Little angel, go away...
Come again some other day...
Devil has my ear today...
I\'ll never hear a word you say...
He Promised I would find a little solace and some peace of mind...
Whatever. just as long as I don\'t feel so desperate and ravenous.

Considering the fact that trojans can be written in BASIC even, I don\'t even consider them to be a virus. The Blaster worm is a real virus, and I respect the person who created such a virus, together with many others viruses I\'m fixing these days. (The company I work, a school, currently doesn\'t have the money to buy a virus scanner license...damn budget) I mean, writing such viruses is incredible. Sure, they don\'t have a life (Although, define life...), and creating viruses that destroy your PC is wrong, but the way they program them is rather impressive. In some cases, that is. I once had to fix a virus that didn\'t allow me to install a virus scanner or some other kind of fix that allowed me to remove it.

P.S. And please, don\'t flame me now. I\'m not a virus lover, I just respect the way they program them.

Awww. :( And I was just working up this massive virus to bring down the world economy. I don\'t have a girlfriend so I was hoping that it would help me get one. Maybe I\'ll meet someone nice while I\'m in Jail... :D

:P jk. I have a friend who\'s into viruses and junk. He\'s given Sub7 to a lot of people. Not me, though. :D I\'m wise to his schemes.

I find it very hard to believe that girls, good girls anyways, would find virus making an attractive asset. (lol, hey Moog. Remember feetman.com :P ...Ya, sorry about that. :D)

Don\'t sweat it, Silvereign. I know how hard it is to program. I, too, have a grudging respect for hackers and losers...I mean virus makers. :D That\'s why a lot of them are hired by big software houses after they serve their time.

The guy who spread Blaster didn\'t actually make it. He downloaded one and modified it, and managed to make it much more effective.
And really, in my opinion, the main reason people write viruses is probably just because it\'s a challenge. That\'s the only reason I would write a virus.
Also, though it is possible to write a trojan is BASIC, a reliable trojan that is hard to find is a lot harder.
There are a lot of viruses that don\'t do anything. The programmers just wanted to see if they could get it to spread. Making viruses to destroy people\'s computers s just mean. I\'ve got one of the \"harmless\" viruses on my computer. It isn\'t very good though. It is really easy to detect and really easy to remove, and really easy to prevent from spreading.

I heard something similar, or one case that was similar at least. Girls are not remotely impressed by such pointless destructive nonsense. I find it distressing that some idiot behind a PC would want to mess up as many people\'s expensive equipment as they can - a PC is a big investment for most people.....makes me mad X(

Although I was vaguely amused at the alleged hidden message in the MSblast worm thingy to Billy Gates saying stop making money and sort out your software - at least that one wasn\'t particularly malicious (although it did mess the servers up at work, but that\'s just time off for me ;))

well i doubt it, you\'d rather be corn holed in jail by a fat kid called bubba missing one ear and one eye and a face full of scars ( if that\'s your defenition of girlfriend :S ) not the perfect girlfriend i had in mind!
