Game Crashes
« on: September 15, 2003, 03:28:39 pm »
I\'m running:

Windows XP
2.0Ghz AMD 2400
512 DDRRAM
64mb on a Geforce4

Problem:

I can load the game, create a charecter, pick a job, and then when I go to connect it brings me to a loading screen, then it boots me and gives me this message:

psclient has encountered a problem and must be closed.

AppName: psclient.exe     AppVer: 0.0.0.0     ModName: rapid.dll
ModVer: 0.97.0.0  Offset: 00004723

Hmmmm... try updating your client version with Updater.exe and make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card.

I ran the updater, no effect.

How do I check for new drivers?

I\'ve heard that if you run the game in compatibility mode, it sometimes works.  Just right click on planeshift, goto properties, and then click on the compatibility tab.  You could do this on either the shortcut or the application itself.

You may also want to try and redownload and reinstall PS...  One of the portions could have been corrupted (although I doubt the installer would have ran if that was the case.)  If you still have your portions, you could check them against the MD5s on the download page and download only the corrupted portion.

Correct me if I\'m wrong, but isn\'t RAPID a collision detection system?  I\'m not sure what would cause it to crash PS...

I\'m running on the the problem as Nairion. I had an old Voodoo3 Card, where PS could load, but the performance was very poor.
So, I acquired a GeForce4 MX420 64MBDDR card, installed the latest (52.16) drivers and reinstalled and updated PS. it locks up while Initialising World (10 secs after the prompt) and states the same DLL: RAPID.

Please someone help. I dont think is about the install files, because it worked fine before.

I\'m running a TBread Duron 1.4GHz, 384MB in XP sp1.

Regards!
