Guild recognition
« on: September 17, 2003, 07:15:46 pm »
I think it would be better in game if your guild was displayed when you were looket at on /who or when you are talking to someone there guild should be under there name on screen (not in chat). THat way people can more easily group up with there group to kill monsters or do quests. And it could prevent anyone from joining more than one guild because it is stated in game what guild you are in.

I agree with that,

except for secret guilds like mine who will use the /guildsecret on/off command (should be implemented later). That way the guild shouldn\'t appear under the player\'s name but the server would still know who is in that guild...

I dunno if any u guys play stuff like C&C Generals or Wolfenstein ET, but if u do then u\'ll know what I\'m on about.
Why not have a system like the clans on those games? If u\'r in a guild, then u\'r guild letters are put infront of u\'r name.

Yes just like a fps game?  No I think that\'s ugly, I don\'t want my name to show up as [XG]Tycho.  That looks stupid.  And it does say what guild you are in on the /who list, it is implemented codewise in the game already...

eventually i think some kind of symbol relative to your guild will appear when u move the mouse over a persons character, like in the later RO versions.*

*at least this is what seems to be indicated by the set symbol command

Slightly off topic here, but will npc\'s recognise your guild? Maybe if you were in a rogue type guild you would receive more quests from thieves and less from guards.

No because then all guilds would have to fall into a specific definition and that\'s not fair.  Unless it was a npc-based guild you were in... but I don\'t think we\'ll need those.

I agree with the whole symbol idea! I say that we should be able to have costumizable parts that you can use to make up a symbol! (Kinda like player creation) Stuff like diamonds, stars, arches, circles, weapons, fire, etc. can be some of the costumizable symbol parts. Also in the end the symbol can show up above a players name and if you put your mouse on it then it will show the guilds name!

I disagree with having to sue only certain things as the guild symbol may not be able to be created using those things for instance the explorer guild symbol wouldnt be able to be created using that
PS while your at read my exp thingy :D

For now guild information will probably be attached to the name of the player. So when you see a player they will have their name over their head and what guild they belong to.  ( expect of course for those that are in secret ).   Later on we may use a different system but this is easiest for us to do now.
