download problems

I am having problems downloading Planeshift. After the file has loaded, it says \"Not Signed\" and AB3 at the top of the window. Then it says it could not verify the file. How do I fix it?

Please, someone give me a solution to this problem!!! I really, really want to play Planeshift! I have looked in the FAQ and technical problems thread and found nothing. If the question has been asked and solved before, please tell me. Thank you for your time.

Before I can even try to help you out, I need to know a few things.

1. Windows/Linux?
2. Which browser?
3. When does the problem occur?
4. How exactly do you download it? (The steps you do to download the files)
5. Do you use a download manager?

Thank you for replying! I have Windows 98. Browser I dont know. The problem occers ever time I download the file at the Planeshift homepage. I click on to  planshift part 1 for windows and as soon as the file has been transfered it says \"Not Signed\" with AB3 at the top of the window. If you can help me or any other info you need to know, let me know. Thanks again for replying.

From what I gather on the 30 second search I conducted on this problem, it may be a DirectX related issue.

Go to the Microsoft download page and get yourself the latest version of DirectX installed. Reboot (it will most likely ask you to do this anyway) and try again.

FYI, the file causing this AB3 error is DDraw.dll

Good luck! :)

Thanks for the reply, Moruga,  but it didn\'t help much. I indead do have the latest DirictX. And when I tried to find the file \"DDraw.dll\" it said the page could not be displayed. But thanks again for the help. If you know any other info or know someone on this forum who can help, please let me know.

Have you tried downloading from the secondary site?lower in the download page?

You seem to be having issues downloading the game, not installing or anything like that.

And the download locations seem to work for me.

My suggestion is download another browser, or try to update the one you have.

Thanks for your advice, Paxx. I have used both the upper and lower sites and I have the same problem for both. I don\'t fully understand what you mean by using another browser or updating hte one I have( I am new to computers and the internet.) But thanks again. If you know a Planeshift player who had the same problem, let me know who.

Go to http://channels.netscape.com/ns/browsers/download.jsp and download Netscape.

Then try downloading planeshift. If this solves your problem, then you need to update Internet Explorer (your most likely browser). But currently it seems to be a problem on your end, and not with bad configuration on our side.

But it could be us and we are not aware of it.

Thanks for your advise, but it didnt seem to help much. I did download Netscape, and I did not get the \"Not Signed\" window, but something else came up. When I competed the download, it said that can not read the file. How do I fix this? If you know someone who\'s had the same problem, let me know. Thank you for your time.

You don\'t open the files when you\'ve downloaded them. You download all 5 parts, plus the reassembler, into the same folder. Then run the reassembler. An exe file should be created in the same directory- run THIS file and with any luck it should all install nicely. :)

Thanks, I did not know that I had to download them all in the same folder. But this advise still does not help much. Why? Well, I can\'t do anything when it loads the file because right after it loads it goes right to the \"Not Signed\" window. I can not do much of anything, at least not from the file download window. But, thanks anyway.

If you continue to run into problems maybe you can try downloading the assembled file from our website: http://www.fragnetics.com/download.php?file=planeshift

Chrischoo, thanks but there is something wrong with this download also. About 3 hours into the download, it said something about a virus on the file and that it had to end my internet connection. I thought you guys would screen your files for viruses and such. Now look, I\'m not trying to be mean. I bet you screened out most of the bugs and viruses and I do understand that somethings slip through the cracks. Please fix this ASAP. Thank you for your time.

Do you really thin it's a server issue?
« Reply #14 on: September 21, 2003, 09:22:52 pm »
I don\'t know if you have read others threads around, but nobody has experienced your problem. So the problems should come from your side, not from the server.
