The Font...
« on: September 22, 2003, 12:41:46 pm »
The text font used in character creation and generally everywhere I\'ve seen so far (haven\'t seen much though), is kinda hard to read. I am a webmaster and I focus alot on that kinda stuff when making websites, guess that\'s why I got all hung up on this. Like \"the 1st rule of webdesign\" is to not use the Times New Roman font since it\'s basically harder to read then a plain and easy Arial. Then font used in Planeshift is goodlooking and adds to the atmosphere of the whole thing... but I really do have problems reading it. At times I just stop up and squint at the monitor trying to figure out \"what\'s that letter?\". I wish you would \"twink\" that font a little. =)

actually the so called first rule of webdesign is: \"don\'t use serif fonts\" ...not limited to times new roman ...but that\'s not that importaint :P

anyhow, i like the font in PS ...actually it IS one of more readable (MMO)RPG fonts i\'ve seen ever. but if you don\'t like it, i\'d suggest an option (in the options) for a simpler sans-serif font ...or to select one from more fonts.

p.s. i\'m pretty sure there\'s a way of changing the fonts of your client already in MB ...by hand, but still ...i\'d check the PS config file(s) if i were you ;)

Fonts are stored in this folder: C:\\Program Files\\PlaneShift\\data\\ttf by default.

The only config file I could find which contained font names was C:\\Program Files\\PlaneShift\\data\\config\\freetype.cfg

However, it doesn\'t mention \"Scurlock\" so I doubt this file governs which fonts are used in the client UI.

I agree they could be a little easier to read, but I think that about medieval calligraphy too.  :-)

These ain\'t webpages.

It isn\'t realy the best solution but you could try to rename scurlock to scurlock.back and copy one of the other fonts that you find readable and past it a scurlock.

I think this might work for you:)
