Not only is jewelry something worn to show off wealth but some also hold special status. Here\'s what type of jewelry that should be in the game:

Jewelry Bases: Jewelry should be made with a base material ex: Gold, Platinum, Silver, synthetic materials?
That\'s pretty self-explanatory.

Synthetic Jewelry Bases: Synthetic Jewelry bases should be allowed as an advanced ability by experienced alchemists. Since Alchemist are able to make special mixtures, they can make synthetic Jewlery Bases. Ex: Gold + Silver = new unknown material.

Gemstones: Well technically a gemstone in any reality or game holds no true value if it isn\'t cut. So jewelers should be able to cut gemstones, here\'s a list of gemstones:

Colors of Gemstones? I think it\'ll add more of a variety if some of the gemstones had different colors, so it can determine value and purity. Some gemstones have true colors while others have mixed colors because of impurities. Believe it or not there\'s a diamond that\'s yellowish because of impurities.

While you list of gems is interesting, it seems that a lot of RPG\'s use the names of gems that exist in real life.  I think it would be cool if new names were created, so instead of ruby, emerald, diamond, etc. we\'d have different names, like kadelmite, vengespar, and gronothyst  

But seriously, I think it would be cool if we didn\'t use the same names every other RPG does, because Planeshift is supposed to be cool and exciting in as many ways as possible

hehe yeah, but really, it would be good to use different names, it\'s just that it isn\'t easy to come up with them, it\'s sometimes good to use a name that everyone uses for gemstones.

Perhaps jewelry, gemstones, and precious stones could serve a purpose other than just wealth and status, such as being combined with another type of metal to serve other ends, such as armor. Of course, the armor would have to protect the wearer very well and be expensive, though.

And I\'ll just throw in a random, on-the-spot gem name that can be used to serve as a weapon and showing off. I will call it Damop. It is black and red, and gives off a slight glow. Creatures of holiness cannot touch it for long without bleeding, and yet dark creatures treasure it for its rareness and dark beauty. Usually worn as a charm against creatures of darkness.

So, what do you think of these ideas?

For each new mineral name, I think that they should be given an unique quality, to make them more unique, if only in looks and brightness.

Speaking of riches I noticed that if you select very rich in the char creation u onnly start with 200 tria, isnt that almost nothing?

that depends, what\'s the raw value of one tria worth against? Is there inflation? How strong is the integrity of one tria? Is there a reserve of some precious minerals that backup the amount one tria is worth?

Sidenote: Take this for example.

Why is the U.S Dollar have more value than lets say a Somali Schilling?

It\'s because the U.S Dollar has gold and the stock market to back it up but mostly its the gold. The Somali Schilling is worth almost nothing because there\'s not really much to back it up. If you study this more I\'m sure they have something to back it up, I just don\'t have time to look for it now. But all these factors should play an important value in the economical side of Planeshift.

While Kuiper\'s idea would be very interesting to see in a game, again we have to remind ourselves what venge keeps saying: this is only a game.  While an economy with a finite amount of resources would be cool to be implemented in a MMORPG, it may end up causing more problems than it\'s worth.
