Experince Gained
« on: October 11, 2003, 10:48:57 am »
As i understand exp is gained for doing certain actions whether it kills amoster or not has no affect as i understand it... but i belive there should be a system where if you are near a monster you gain exp as well
E.g when not near monsters at all you gain half the exp you would if you did that action infront of a low level monster... in this way you could set it so that fighting harder monsters would increase the exp gained from doing certain actions..
Eg. level 1-5 monsters = normal exp
Eg. level 6-10 monsters = 1.15 * exp
Eg. level 11-15 monsters = 1.3* exp
In this way there will be a reason to fight with harder monsters
the way to set this up would be to make a zone around these monsters and when you are in that zone you gain however much the extra exp is for doing actions in that zone.
Sorry for any spelling errors

yes that is true but it will still be experince based other wise there is no way to improve in skills and the only thing that can make any 1 more powerfull than others is there items.... which would rather stupid after all a person playing a long time could give his stuff to a newb and he would sudenly become realy strong...

Of course it is skilled based.

But i think i don\'t like your system. Why?
For Alchemy/ Herborism/ Crafting and others skills like that, it makes little sense to increase the exp gained when you are near a monster (you may even have a malus for stupidity :P).
For the combat-based skills, it is obvious that you will gain only exp when you are fighting something (or maybe by training, in this case i agree that less exps will be gained)

In general i don\'t like the fact that fighting monsters must be a requirement to gain exp. For example, a rogue should gain exp when he avoids fights and not for fighting. But that doesn\'t mean players will avoid dangerous places.
If you want to explore the secret level of the ultimate doom castle, it is more beacuse you know that the mega-sword of the power of the god is here than because you want to fight huge monsters

elscouta what i mean is if your near a REAly ultra powerfull uber demon and you say do some alchemy to make a exploding potion of some sort you would gain more exp because you are in danger of dieinng whilst making in front of that creature also with this system if you were to cast magic near a monster you would gian the exp but say You cast heal from the white way when you are no where near any monsters you would gain 16 expinfront of a level 1-5 monster but when you are near nothing you would gain 8 exp For non-combatr skills how ever you would always gain the normal exp regardless.
