I have heard that it can sometimes take up to 2 hours for Initializing world to complete the first time you run it.  After that it should take significantly less time to load, somewhere in the area of 1 to 10 minutes.  My suggestion is to just let it run for a while if you really want to play that bad.

the first time to load can take from 1 minute to 9 hours depending on several factors.

so you yust have to wait till it is loaded that is all i can say.

I dont have up to 9 hours to let it load, but this isnt my first time connecting.. More like my hundredth, This is a recently developed problem i have run into. If the Molecular Blue Program is not Responding it is therefore not sending information or recieveing, so waiting would be almost useless.....

if it is the first time you should wait until it is finished loading.

about the 9 hours if you have a 133 mhz with 256 mb ram and a gforce with 64 mb it will take 9 hours( tested so i know )

Weader, are you sure you have enough ram memory because 0.5 is really really slow.

you should also stop unneeded software you are running like ftp software, other games, p2p program\'s, everything that connects to the net and program\'s that take alot of memory.

if you use a nt systen you should press ctrl + alt + del select task manager and then press the processes tab.

you can see what uses alot of memory here, you should know wich things not to close and wich are crytica system processes ( these cannot be closed by you because the system is controlling them ) if you have a system idle process round 80 or 90 it is ok and you should be able to play ps.

if that still isn\'t the case you might have a 3d card that can\'t handle it or your memory IS to low.

then put your tech specs here and we can judge a bit more by that.

Alright, my system has only connected to planeshift once, then every other time has crashed before it had a chance to load. (and it only crashed after about 5 minutes, not imedenaty)

Here are my specs

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 98 (4.10, Build 2222) A
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer:
System Model:
BIOS:
Processor: AMD Duron(tm) Processor, MMX, 3DNow, ~1000MHz
Memory: 128MB RAM
Primary File System: FAT32
DirectX Version: DirectX 8.1 (4.08.01.0901)

Now, my question is, would going from 128mb of ram to 384mb help my problem? any ideas?

It could potentially help alot. Try it. Most recent games require 256mb RAM minimum or more anyway, so it\'s not like you\'d be wasting your money if it doesn\'t help in this particular instance.

\"Planeshit\" says it all:D

In both cases the processor speed and the RAM are too low for the world to load in any viable time. Try expanding RAM and overclock the processor to its limit. However do not blame me if you see anything go wrong by overclocking. Its not my fault U guys are such n00bs. And let me also add that I think duron also has a very thin cache(but I am not sure). That might explain your hang ups. Besides your internet connections might also be the culprits if you are using a dial up.

384 might help. Whats your FSB frequency and harddrive RPM? Is that perchance a  SATA or a SCSI? Let me know that and i\'ll think what\'ll help. Also tell me your CPU multiplier and max FSB the RAM\'ll take. What temperatures  does your core reach?

Friendly advice:

win\'98 is crap man! Dump it! if you use it for programming reasons then dont worry anyway since win9x support is being withdrawn and your 9x skills will soon be obsolete. Start on .NET.

BTW-

HaHaHa! I load in 5 to 15 minutes and nearly never LAG. So take that suckers:P:P.

Here are my specs-
athlon thoroughbred B ~2GHz
KT400 mainboard
512 MB RAM
TNT2 32Mb.
4800 rpm 20 GB (yeah, I know that sucks:(;()
DX9a
1GB page file.
64Kbps broadband.

Thats the minimum essential configuration I came up with for more or less glitchless play:P

Auran. No More.
