Put up a sign.
« on: October 22, 2003, 06:45:45 am »
Let\'s say you want to hire a cleric-type in your party, instead of travelling and asking everyone via chat messages, jus put up a sign. This makes you immobile though... unless you have a lot of merchant-type skills.

I\'m sure it\'s pry in other games too, but like in RO where you can just sit there with a message over your head saying what you want or are offering, and people can enter into it as a mini-chatroom... or yeah the message thing.
Ninjas have feelings too.  Mostly they feel like dancing.

you can also think about a sign you hang up somewhere like in kada\'s tavern where you can read it and contact the person you need to contact like a bulletin board bet then ingame ;)

Either way, newspaper or sign, we need something like this in the game!

This is what I think you should be able to do:
Use Magic Marker (TM) on wood
Use hammer and nail with wood on post
Use hammer with post on ground

...or, you could just have a window where you can click and mark if you are looking for a group. That would, hopefully, stop people from asking everybody:
\"Hey! wanna grp?\"
Browsing the forums when I\'m bored, nothing more.

there was something like this in RO and it sucked, a lot of people were just sitting there with a sign above there head saying \"AFK\" you couldn\'t even walk through the cities anymore at some point...

In game Newspaper? Please Elaborate.
To live, seeking death is a pointless endevour. But to die, seeking life, is a warriors greatest dream. Soon, all will know the name of Skaarj Der\'akoon

I still say just pick either one! But, now I\'m kinda slowly leaning towards just stay with the first idea! (the newspaper) It\'s already pretty much thought out!

The newspaper idea sounds interesting, but what if there are tons of people in town? The newspaper would be filled with requests everywhere.

How about a location designated for the sake of finding people or hiring mercenaries to escort merchant?

locations like that will evolve on their own.  in the several mmo and pwmorpg\'s i\'ve played, there are places where people go to hang out, usually, these are near some landmark like kada el\'s, or by the gate out of town into the big bad woods, etc.  already, there is sort of one near the laanx plaza, but they won\'t really appear until the player density is up.
