For those that want a little comic relief
« on: October 22, 2003, 02:31:09 pm »
I made a little flash game about planeshift which i think is a direct representation of what we-re actually doing here. But why can\'t i stop?

http://www.freewebs.com/planeshiftfireguild/game.html

check it out but i warn a ahead of time...fast computer makes this game impossible...slow computer makes this game laughable....

Lol great little game, you could also program the little mouse n00b to ask obvious and stupid questions each time he picks up a crystal.

You could also add :

Draklar: Preaching and quoting ppl. As a bonus round players get to kick him for a hundred crystals:P.

Shadowhand: Boasting and generally resting on their asses :D. Random obstacles; need to be leapt over.

Seperot: Trying to shoot noobs with arrows (mostly missing). Hitpoint loss if he hits.

Evanchild: Trapping noobs with a net and dragging them to his guild. Endgame

A Moogie fairy: Standing at a place and healing ppl.

Kada el: Popping up randomly and giving ale as bonus items.

Vengeance: Jumping out at intervals and accusing you of being a homo if he catches you, causing a loss of crystals.

Drachion: Generally acting stupid and spewing drivel causing a slow down penalty if he catches you.

A Cabal pit: Opening up at intervals which has to be avoided to prevent a premature end game.

A Cabal posse: Loots all your crystals and makes the game reset unless avoided.

Infact I have a great idea. Lets make a 2D game Mario Bros style with the end prize of an Alpha PS release after defeating the evil Dev;). Anyguys interested post here or make a new thread. We could discuss the game concept further there. It would be advantageous if you know Win32 (maybe DirectX or OGL if thats not too much to ask :P) but even if you know no more than C++ you can contribute. Good 2D cartoonists are also invited to create the in game objects. Just post. This could be your big chance to be a game programmer(okay so its not so big but it still is a chance:P).

Ooh, ooh, I wanna make a game!!  It sounds like a great job for a novice C++ programmer like me!  Auran, you wanna start the new thread?  I\'ll try to think of some basics today, and I\'ll create it if I don\'t see your thread.

P.S. I\'ve got a DX book, but I could never get the samples to work.  If you could show me the basics I\'d have it down in a snap.  I\'m a rapid learner when it comes to programming ;)

Ok, I\'m going to start a new thread in the Plaza once a solid idea has been established.  It should be there within the next day or two, for those who are interested in participating.
