« on: October 22, 2003, 04:19:37 pm »
I\'ve searched the site, the forum, the internet - but to no avail!
Can somone please tell me whether I can run the game with:
P III 450 Mhz
256 MB Ram

Thanx a lot ...

I wouln\'t bother trying. The game at the moment takes up alot of resources, and I don\'t think u\'r Pc will be up to it. When the next version comes out (at the new year) download and try then, as it\'ll take up less of u sys resources.

I don\'t agree... but PS will certainly have cleaner code and hopefully less lag holes and memory leaks than the current version. To say it will use less resources, though, I don\'t think it will.

Aimperial: If your processor was a bit faster, I\'d say it would work. However, you may find yourself running out of Visual memory when trying to load the game. This is a common cause of the client crashing for apparently no reason. Of course, there\'s nothing to stop you trying to play, but I sincerely doubt it will be possible. :(

Best of luck.

Thank you all for your feedback.
In the meantime I did try it, and found out that the game runs on my system but a bit slow.
No fun in that.
Thus, I decided to wait for the next version or for the next computer...
See you all in the future!

There are no official requirements, Mr Chi, but I believe with those particular specs your system will be capable of running PlaneShift (assuming there are no other problems). You probably won\'t have great performance though.

Okay how about an Athlon 650mhz, 128MB of RAM, and the funkiest GeForce256(32MB no DDR or AGP 4X sometimes seen as PCI with 31.5MB) ever, Win98 SE and around 3 GB left on my Hard Drive for swap files
and a Road Runner cable connection.
In contrast Postal 2 ran fine, Q3 Tech is all good
oh what tweaks can help if not myself then someone else to improve performance

oh and for the grammer freaks sorry for subjecting you to my writing

cdmrzit: I doubt your system would play this game primarily due to the amount of RAM on your system.  The current version takes quite a bit of memory, and as far as I know there have been few (if any) people who can run the game with 128 RAM.

Highest Framerate: 19fps
Average Framerate: 9fps
Lowest Framerate: 0.2fps

Need more ram to fix that...

I have 1743 mb of virtual memory. I believe you don\'t have enough RAM to run PS though. You could use VRAM, but that will really slow the game down to around 0.2fps.

If you can, cmdrzit, buy a 256mb or 512mb chip of ram for your computer to speed up the game. There currently aren\'t any tweaks I\'d bother making, since in a month or so a new, more efficient version will be coming out, which you can then tweak if you want.

Edit: Ah, ghostslayer beat me to it.

PS lag for everyone so don\'t expect it\'ll run ok for you.

Your system is really enough to play though.

Lag has nothing to do with network so a slow connection is not a problem (at least in MB, dunno about CB)

There\'s lag because both PS and CS (the engine used in Planeshift) are in devellopement so are not optimized. Hopefully, in a few releases, there\'ll be no more lag.

Lag has nothing to do with conn.? how come for example in \"halflife\" it starts lagging when more then 4players get into a dsl-768 server? the host doesnt get any lag...but the players...as soon as the 5th players leaves...the lag stops...i mean...if its not called \"lag\" when the game becomes unplayable due to the high ping...whats it called then?

thx

marshall

Edit:

oops...i just read that you wrote \"network\" and not connection ^^
