Store Manager

This is just some cool idea I had a while back. There could be this mini-window thing, and that contains a simplified version of the game and a chat window, and it\'s always on top, so you could manage a store and do homework or whatever at the same time so your character could realistically do stuff like that.

This sounds like a good idea, but can\'t PS be run in windowed mode?  I mean, I first saw your post and thought that would be cool, especially with me being a merchant and all, but I think you could just run PS in a window and be able to switch back and forth between PS and work and stuff.

And dual monitors help too  :D

Hehehe, yeah but running it in windowed mode in the background really wouldn\'t be nice to your system, whereas an optomized version for running like that would.  Although I imagine that being quite difficult to do, and not nearly worth the trouble.  Although maybe just a way to output your in-game chat, and then fully log-in if a customer comes up or something might work.
Ninjas have feelings too.  Mostly they feel like dancing.

It\'s probably best to just log off because some ppl\'s comps have trouble with stuff like this!

It could be taken to another level..

Why not instead of you having to be online to manage a store, you set up the store, give it the necessary inventory (or raw materials or whatever), and it runs itself.  You only need to login every while to check on it and make sure it\'s fully stocked?

Yes no?

I used to like this idea... however after watching and playing Star Wars Galaxies, which follows this system to the T., I don\'t think it is a very good idea... people get lazy and players start getting rich through macroing instead of playing the game etc etc which builds up resentment... etc etc...

if you want a game just play it and leave bot-making to 3rd party programmers :P

Well, if nobody likes my idea, I\'ll just save it if I ever make an MMORPG.

Who knows, since PS is open source it shouldn\'t be that hard for a third party to write their own mini-client version for PS, right?  Or is that type of code protected under the license agreement?

*imagines a text-based client that renders the 3D world as ASCII characters, and displays them in the console*

Mmmmm  :D
