Custom Creation problems?

Are you having problems during Custom Creation?  Here are a few tidbits.

It says I\'ve gone LinkDead when I tried creating my character through Custom Creaton!

In the interim between starting the creation process and finalizing it, the client has not kept the connection alive with the server.  As a result the connection with the server times out.  This is a simple problem which could hopefully be fixed in  a later release.  However there is a very simple workaround.

Workaround:  Preplan your character through the custom creation phase and quickly create it in less than 30 seconds (depending on what the server is set to timeout at.  30 seconds is usually the number).  It is easy accomplished - it just requires some forethought.

I can\'t use all my points during skill selection!

Different skills require a different number of skill points to acquire.  If you find that you can not spend all of your points, don\'t worry about it!  To date combat and magic have not been implemented for use.  As a result, the skills you have chosen for your character are of no use yet.

I was fiddling with the attributes (STR, CON, DEX, etc) and it suddenly reset itself without giving me the points back!

This occurs sometimes.  A simple fix would be to exit out of character creation and back in again.  At that point of character creation you have not made much development of a character yet.

*blank* isn\'t working properly!

Many features of PlaneShift have not been implemented yet.  Almost every attribute and skill of your character, save its name and look, are not used.  The Molecular Blue release is a tech demo.  You are permitted to explore the area of the plaza and the dungeon area, as well as interact with other players in-game.  Other than that, nothing else exists (yet).

If I get a bonus for being dermorian, Nightvision, should I need to take that perk? Or do I get it? What happens if I take it?

Hello!

 Ok I\'m a newbie and I\'ve been trying to get a name for my char.  I\'ve tried a few and none seem to work.  Are there that many people testing this game?

I always use Jem as my main char but I can\'t use this name it tells me it\'s in use already.  OK!  So I tried different ways to use it and they are all used too.  Or so it keeps telling me.  I have tried LaShanna too and it\'s used.  Also different ways to use it seem to be used.  Lash/Shanna.  

I finally got Jemmy to work but then I didn\'t set her up right and now I would like to delete her and start over.  Can someone please tell me how to do this?   Sorry to be a pain.  But poor Jemmy has no skills or job or anything.     Maybe all I should do is leave her and walk around to see what\'s here.

Any answer would help me out here.

Things such as jobs and skills aren\'t implemented yet, and thus cannot be used, and thus are meaningless right now ;) Wait until CB comes out to really work with those.

I believe there\'s an option to delete your char at planeshift.fragnetics.com, but I\'m not sure if this works only for invalid characters (that received a linkdead message) or for all characters.

Jem: It seems you should\'ve read a little more about the game before you jumped in.

Yes, there really are that many accounts registered. Infact the 100,000th account was created a few months ago and it was a celebrated event.

Now, about your character. There is no way to create a character \"wrongly\" in Molecular Blue- there are no such things as skills, stats, jobs and advantages yet. Worry about those things in versions > Alpha.


[Edit: Eek, I got beaten to it. As for the character deletion, it is only possible to delete invalid characters which have been corrupted with a Database error.]

Ah, so it\'s currently impossible to delete characters that are working properly?

I hope the feature will materialize when CB comes out :) Easy to make mistakes with char creation then.

as for joining well my guild said to come and then I get here only to find out that they aren\'t going to after all.  Oh well!  I\'ll give my char a chance since in the game I play stuff seems to have broken once again.  Or I guess I could always just go back to playing the sims offline.  rofl

I have created a character, but when i log in and the game starts to load the world and stuff, the program shuts down. What could cause this and what is the solution?

When the next version is out well the accounts be deleted?
I made lots of carictures and dont know what to do to get rid of them so well there be a complet delete of the accounts?

Fusia: There are many names taken, As stated before by Mogura, There are over 100,000 people, Many have even typed in  random letters as names like you did, But if you keep trying (With Actual names instead of gibberish) you are bound to find one that isnt taken. Just keep trying!

Jdirven and Elentriir: At the \"Initializing world\" it is currantly trying to load the world map. This process may take up to 30 minutes on the first time for some people, Just be patient and it will eventually load.

Zenlon: I believe that there are people working on finding a way (If they have not already) on transferring accounts and their Crystals into CB. The Crystals will be then converted into Tria (Crystal Blue\'s currency) where you can then buy Items and Weapons.
