Help getting out of dungeon
« on: November 02, 2003, 12:36:34 am »
I found a temple with a well that I jumped down to. I eventually found a ladder that leads to a run down building that is in the form of a maze. HELP. I can\'t seem to find the entrance out of the building! They desparately need an automap feature or some spells that can get us out. How do I get out of the building?

there are a few ways of getting out manually, but if you really can\'t, enter /spawn in the chat window.

The game is a tech demo... no spells or the like yet... search the dungeon a bit more, and I\'m sure you\'ll find your way out..

Haha, the dungeon is so crazy.  I\'ve found my way out several times, but by the time I make it out I can\'t remember how I got there  ?(

So the next time I fall down there I have to figure it out all over again  :P

I tried making a map for myself, but PS keeps locking up when I zoom out that much.  Gotta get more RAM...

How I set my timezone:

ln -sf /usr/share/zoneinfo/Antarctica/Davis /etc/localtime

you just go to the green pillar room, then you go to the balcony(there are 2 of them, but only one has a door that leads the way out) then you go into that door, and then it doesn\'t matter where you go, you\'ll either end up in the tower or you get to the exit of the dungeon.

Yes, found the pillars and the way out the second time. I have to admit, I really liked the spawn command. Please keep that in the game.

a tiny scenario why it would be removed:

your in the field slaying some beasts, your low on health so you have /spawn pretyped in the chat window, you are almost death you goto the chat window press enter and viola your on the town square alive and kicking.
now this is a great way how to get 0 deaths and millions of kils, making alot of people too powerfull etc etc etc.

Yeah, but what if you actually got stuck in a glitch (or fell through the floor)?  Maybe a timer on it so you can\'t use it if you were in combat within the last minute or so.  Or perhaps have the command just signal the server to spawn you back at town next time you log in, so you\'d have to acually exit all the way out of PS and wait to log back in again.  Then all you need is another time so you can\'t log out within 1 minute of combat (which should be implemented anyway).

The way it is done in pristontale ( have been stuck there for some times ) where you quit when you are stuck and when you log back in you are back in the town again, would come in handy, and you won\'t be able to escape death.

I hate the spawn command...it\'s so cheap. I can understand a n00b wanting to use it, but if you\'ve played the game for even a week you\'ll know your way around.

When combat is implemented it will just be a way for cowards to retreat from battle when wounded...

If it will still be possible to get stuck in the future, which no matter how good the programming, lag may still cause it to be possible, then the game will simply have to be able to detect this and auto-spawn the player, of course there would be no manual command for it.  The question is if it will still be necessary for CB... which I think largely depends on if they remove jumping and/or they give the game a more proper physics/collision routine.
Ninjas have feelings too.  Mostly they feel like dancing.

/spawn only should be used when you\'re stuck, and because getting stuck won\'t happen this much anymore in the next releases(I hope) the command can be removed too.

There won\'t be a need for any \'auto-respawn\' features. That\'s a GM\'s job. :)
