Info release yet?
« on: November 05, 2003, 03:15:05 am »
Has there been any kind of information release regarding the magic system, weapons, armor, monsters?

Or how about XP and character levels?

I was looking for some articles to read other than what\'s already on the website, perhaps I missed something.

I have some ideas for some monsters and quests, but I wanted to see if it has already been done or something similar.

Maybe someone compiled some information or has a spreadsheet.

Please give me any links if you know if these lists exist at all.

The next release, due in the few months, will include basic magic and combat as well as redone models.

Ideas on what you want in later releases can be posted at the Wishlist forum.

Yes I realize there is going to be new stuff.

What I\'m looking for are charts that will be the basis of some gameplay in the future.   I\'m looking for specifics.   Perhaps mathematical equations for gaining, raising XP, skills, etc.

I realize that part of the fun of making a game is for placing secrets inside for the players to find.  However, why not have a little more detail about what\'s going on behind the scenes?  Like what is being planned, what is actually being implemented, etc.

I\'m sorry but for me just hearing that there\'s gonna be new stuff at whatever date doesn\'t do much for me.  I want to be more involved.

If you need someone to write up some articles, I\'ll do it.    :-)

Well I think the devs are focusing on main parts of the game for now.  Like those things I mentioned previously.  Some issues they haven\'t even begun work on, so I doubt they will have some of those things even if they did want to post them.

Well I can understand they are busy, it\'s no wonder why.

But from the looks of things on the website, they need people to help out on this project.  I was hoping to glean more info so I can go recruiting people from other places to possibly help out.  I know of some good 2d/3d artists and a few programmers.  It\'s difficult to help out when you don\'t know the status of the project.

You won\'t get any information about \"that kind of stuff\" until you figure it out yourself, or the things are released for public view.

Either the files are a part of the NDA, or the public just doesn\'t need to know. :)

or if he asks one of the admirably tolerant and friendly devs nicely about it. :)

There\'s an NDA???  Ummm, all the (code) files are publicly accesible.  Go look the project up on Sourceforge, you can see what they actually do have done there I\'d imagine.
Ninjas have feelings too.  Mostly they feel like dancing.

Well you won\'t be able to see the magic system or combat system until the next release.

Yep I guess so...

Like I told someone else, I just don\'t want to come up with some ideas and come to find out I was way off base or that it had already been implemented.

But unfortunately, my knowledge comes from 3D art and stories, not proramming so the open source doesn\'t do much for me LOL.

@Wedge:
Of course there\'s an NDA.  You wouldn\'t really want us to develop all the content out in the open, now would you?  The mystery and surprise would be gone, not to mention the thrill of finding that hidden area or rare monster that no one has seen.  Where\'s the fun if you know all the secrets before they\'re playable?  And before you answer \"you know all the secrets, where\'s the fun for you?\", my reward is seeing players find the stuff and get all excited about it, or reading fan stories or fiction about the places/things I helped create.  My hope is that PS will inspire people to talk about the game as if it were real to them, instead of just playing it.  Remember, we do this stuff because we love it.

The only way to learn what\'s going on behind the scenes (content-wise) is to be accepted into the team.  Then the NDA applies to you, and everything must be kept under wraps.  That\'s the way it goes.  If you have things you\'d like to contribute to the team, please apply.  It never hurts to have extra help.  :)
