We understand your point.  However, I doubt there is much we could do about it.  Has it even been determined yet if selling game items on eBay violates anything?  I doubt eBay would do anything because of the fear that someone might sue eBay for taking their auctions offline.

Because Planeshift is a much smaller community, than say DiabloII, there shouldn\'t be as much of a problem with selling items for money.  This is because PS is a true RPG, not a hack \'n slash, which means that there won\'t be all the newbie players that get to level 99 in 2 hours then go and buy all this junk off eBay.  And since PS will have a smaller client base, it should be easier to simply ban people\'s game accounts for selling externally.

Money has nothing to do in the game. I fully agree to ban everyone that try to buy/sell.

It don\'t break laws but the allmighties devs can create a rule that don\'t allow it. Then if someone try to sell/buy, banned

A good way to keep items from appearing on Ebay is to make the special weapons/armor/anything UNDROPPABLE.  If there are houses in the game, make them untransferrable.

The only things that can be removed from inventory in the game are readily available items, like herbs, cheaper equipment, loot, etc.

I was an unfortunate victim of hacking while playing UO.  My rare items in the game were sold on Ebay for a total of more than $500.00 US.  It was a sad situation.

You know on a somewhat related subject economists recently figured out the exchange rate for Norrathian Platinum peices from the game Everquest and  the american dollar.

How strange is that?

Yep, I read an article in a gaming magazine that stated that Everquest money was just as solid as any other real currency out there, and is often exchanged for real money.

And Moraine, that would only be a very last resort if a problem actually got that bad.  I mean what if you\'re a spellcaster and while out on an adventure you find this really awesome and powerful sword?  Oh, I\'m sorry, you can\'t use it and you can\'t trade it with anyone, I guess it\'ll just collect dust in your house  :(

I can see how your experience would lead you to think this way.  However, I believe that there are many other methods that the devs can utilize to make sure that 1) Items don\'t get stolen from you, and 2) nothing from PS gets sold on eBay

The REALLY important items I speak of are quest items.  Things you go looking for that enhance your character beyond normal high things you find off a monster.  This way people can\'t cheat with quests.  Once it\'s done it\'s done and it is staying in your backpack until you delete your character.  Well, maybe not forever.  In Asheron\'s Call you could get rid of no-drop items by giving them to the Town Crier NPC.

But personally, I don\'t see what the need is to sell non-tangible items online for real money, when those items could pop up for anyone at anytime in game, depending on the loot-o-meter.  Or if the magic system in Planeshift is going to be anything like Asheron\'s Call, there\'s no need to go buying and selling high items.  You just buff up the armor and weapons you want and sometimes those perform better in game than some quest items!  Granted, they are only temporary improvements.

Another idea:  Just save them up in your inventory or mules and use to give to others in your guild that have advanced and need armor/weapon upgrades.

Personally I dont have a problem with peeps selling on e-bay.  I think that they\'re totally NUTZ!!! but that is besides the point.  The fact is, the devs will most likely be on the lookout for bugs that allow the weapons to be duped or hacked.  Any person trying to do this and is caught should be banned.... but really... if people want to buy stupid stuff like that on e-bay, let them.  As they are the people who are going to donate to you.... just to get a little extra something... that reallly doesnt matter.  Also, if you disallow trading completely, that totally kills an economy in-game, and that must be avoided at all costs, as that is a main drive in this game.... as you are actually choosing PROFESSIONS.
Anyhow... I\'ve ranted enough at this point....

Them selling items on E-bay could do damage to the in-game economy as they would not be spending their gold...they would be spending cash...which has little or nothing to do with the in-game economy...so I fail to see your point on how not allowing this could damage the economy...but then again I am quite skilled in the art of idiocy at times... ^_^

Goji your miss understanding completly
Firstly please do tell how stopnig people puting there items on ebay will kill in game econmy i cant see how this will affect it how ever i can see how having ebay selling ps stuff will effect it firstly people will no longer be trading in game items or gold for said thing but real cash This would destroy the econemy as ?1 isworth more than 10000000000 in game cash...... which is redicolous. allowing people to sell stuff on ebay would be distarous to the in game econemy i was in the beta of Ragnorok online before it went Pay to play and well i saw a newb fighter have equipment htta was way to high for him to even use when i asked how he got it he said \"me baught on ebay keke\"  yes i was playing with koreans :P but that isnt the point he still used real cash to get items that would require hours of sturggle
