Well, I\'m not sure that god really thinks that way SkwirlDude . A game is a game, I\'m pretty sure he (or she) understands that  :P

\"God is sitting up in his ivory tower, tired and worn out. He\'s had enough of the pressures and stresses of being the number one, so he\'s decided to take a holiday. He calls all his super-being mates together to discuss a few suggestions.

St. Peter, thinking, nods his head, then says, \"How about Mars? It\'s nice and warm there this time of year.\" God shakes His head before answering, \"Nah I went there 15,000 years ago. It was shit, no atmosphere and too dusty.\"

\"What about Pluto?\" suggests another. \"No way!\" God mutters. \"I went there 10,000 years ago. ****ing freezing it was too.\"

\"What about Mercury?\" says another. \"Are you kidding?\" says God. \"I went there 5,000 years ago, I nearly burnt me bollox off it was that hot, never again.\"

\"I\'ve got it,\" says St. Peter, his face lighting up. \"How about going down to Earth for your vacation?\"

\"You must be joking,\" says God, chuckling, \"I went there 2,000 years ago, knocked up some Jewish bird, and they\'re STILL bloody talking about it.\" :D \'

@Aendar

Everyone is entitled to their opinion (except for whoever it was that posted that horrible, tasteless story).  I would look at your statement and suggest that the events happened, and were simply recorded differently by different people.  Sounds logical enough to me  :)

@Seperot

1) I\'m sure many people (especially today) would have a hard time believing divine intervention over scandalism, but I guess he was just a trusting kinda guy.
2) The \"Holy Grail?\"  What has that got to do with anything?

@Fanomatic

I really don\'t think this is the best place for religious jokes :rolleyes:

Christianity a religion that pursecuted soo many people for their beliefs, a religion that was hypocritical and encouraged oppression. A religion that is corrupt even today. How can anyone possibly follow it!

Christianity even stole all of its holidays and symbols thats how bull it is. ALL of their symbols were pagan in origin (Of course, if you want to get sticky about pagan symbols, the fish symbol was used for Dagon (whence comes many of the attacks on the Pope, who wears a \"fish-hat\"), while the Dove (the popular symbol of the Holy Spirit) was sacred to Astarte, Ishtar and Aphrodite.

The image of the Dove reborn out of the mouth of the Dolphin was quite a common Mediterranean pagan image .... and the word \"jonah\" means \"dove.\"

Ring any bells?

Even the Latin for \"catacomb,\" the tombs under Rome, was \"columbaria,\" which means \"dovecote.\" )

Proportions of the New testement contradict themselves. And im not even gonna bother with the old testement. The Stories make no sense, metephors u say? so Noah is a metaphor for a vengeful god that likes to wipe out the whole populace for not believing!?

I wont say any more because i could continue this all day, but ur reasons for leaving imho ...ahh screw it, i just cant understand u, as vicious once said \'I don\'t believe, there is no need to believe\'

Edit: Im not saying im against your beliefs or am trying to be deragatory in any way...

Whoa, fellas.....

I\'m not religious myself, but this is not a good time to split our gaming community with a religious debate.....

Skwirl left. He left for Christianity\'s sake. No different really than leaving for Ru... Ru.... that other game, or because he\'s depressed in RL, or... well, whatever.....

This thread was not meant to continue. He will *not* be back to read the good-byes, and it is *certainly* not an invitation to debate Christianity vs. atheism/agnosticism/other religions.

I very fervently request a mod lock/delete this topic as this can do nothing but cause a rift in our small gaming community, and that is the last thing we need. This thread was dedicated to the loss of one. Let\'s not expand it and cause the loss of many...

Thanks to people like Davis/Xandria/Savion who were open-minded and understanding. No offense to anyone else, just please get off it.

Maybe this thread should be closed.  I\'m all up for religious freedom and speaking your mind but this might get ugly.

I think that religion, like many other topics, can be debated perfectly fine, if everyone involved:

1) Trusts one another
2) Listens to other people\'s ideas openly (without getting angry)
3) Expresses their ideas without fear of backlash
4) Doesn\'t try to impose their opinion on anyone else
5) Understands that it is just a calm discussion

One of the things I miss about high school, was this group of friends that I had that would often debate many issues (religion was a common one, because we had some Christians, some Muslims, and some aetheists).  And they were really interesting conversations to listen to, because they followed all the above points, and it just worked out very well.

HOWEVER, I do not believe this is at all possible on these forums, and I strongly suggest that this thread be closed immediately before something really terrible happens.  :(
