can't find entry point
« on: November 12, 2003, 01:59:06 am »
I played the game once, since then i have not been able to connect.  I figured i\'d update i get this message \"The procedure entry point HrLanConnectionNameFromGuideorPath could not be located in te hdynamic link library netman.dll

what does this mean...adn when i do run the game and try to connect, i get the same message...how can i fix. i am excited about this project, and would like to help in promoting, adding code, or game elements. Would like to use it with my son to bring him into video game design.
Please, i haven\'t seen any message board, adn feel i\'m losing valuable development time

Hi gern,

This doesn\'t sound good, as the netman.dll is a file of your operating system (it contains routines for managing the connections to the network). Have you had problems with other programs connecting through a network as well ?

Perhaps you could check if this file exists in a subdirectory of your windows directory (for instance, with NT, XP, ... it is located in c:\\windows\\system32 when c:\\windows is your OS installation directory).

If it exists, right-click it and check the properties, to see if the version agrees with your OS. In any case, I\'m afraid you\'ll have to re-install at least the network.

What OS are you using ?

Run the updater, it may make the /spawn work.

The error message that the Updater gives you would be... kinda useful.

:P

It\'s weird. Try to remove the netman.dll which is in your planeshift directory (rename it). With me, it works either with or without, but maybe yours is rejected for some reason.

Something else that you could check is the MD5 of your installation file :

MD5 tool
local copy of another gui-based MD5 tool

The MD5 of PlaneShiftV0.2.010.exe (90.028.941 bytes) is : 26F08E7A5734AC1C7AA784B7E3425DFA

I wouldn\'t be surprised if it was corrupted.

Easy with Mogura, she\'s doing a great job here and can\'t always take the time to decipher all the descriptions when they are not in the form asked in the README FIRST! !!   ;)

Glad to see it helped though, welcome here and have fun in Planeshift  :)
