Resource gathering.
« on: November 13, 2003, 10:53:38 pm »
A bit like we\'re doing now with the crystals. Gather resources and store them would be needed to make stuff. Iron for weapons, wood and stones for houses and such. Food, firewood ... And something to stockpile them in, like a barn or a silo for food and a storage room (that works like the inventory menu). that\'ll be great (and I wouldn\'t have to carry those tons of bricks around every day.)

Are you meaning an entire silo for storing stuff for every player or a group-type thing?

For solo storing you use \"mules\" or house with chests, or in some games, a bank.

Seems to me a community storing system would become a constant strain and would cause too many fights in-game.  Not worth the trouble in my opinion.

a bank system would be cool, but you should have a percentage deducted weekly so that the bank isn\'t taken advantage of, the more objects in the bank the more that is decuted, coins however have no deduction factor.

Maybe a storage house would be rentable per week.

Are you talking like you pay an intrest rate to the banks instead of them paying you kind of thing? Also would their be a possibility of guild banks and would the same idea apply?

a guild bank is a must imo... it can be used to reallocate member funds to help out the lowbies.. and also to lend large amounts of money to the individual member for an expensive item..

Yes I agree that a guild bank is a must. I guess I was just curious because I have seen it done in the past where there were no guild banks and gulds ended up creating low level characters that just acted as banks by holding funds and equipment on a character that was never played.

It would be good if we got an intrest rate to, when we put our money in the bank, lets say 3 %?! :D

Anyways a great idea :)

I think a guild owned bank is a ticking time bomb ready to explode. What if the guild suddenly increased their account tax and drastically reduced interest. That wouldn\'t be fair, now unless the guild had a bank and it is ran by an NPC or someone in the game with a high status that\'d be different. Maybe an audit would do good, so no guild can lie about their transactions or storaged of money.

Well then have it set up where the guild has an account at the bank so all intrest rates and what not is set by NPCs/the game and not the guild. Or maybe dont have intrest rates apply to guild banks.

I\'d say it kind of removes the concept of having a bank if you\'re just going to loose your items by putting them in there. It\'d be much better to just create mule characters... Or maybe you\'d start suggesting that people loose stuff in their inventory as well? :P

How about this:
- You can buy carts that you can drag, although you\'re speed suffers.

- You can buy pack mules.

- You can store items in bank.

I was also wondering about a more simplefied carrying system that is easier to code than ones I\'ve seen. Rather than use slot cells like in Diablo 2 where an item can take up a number of cells, an item would have a designated weight. You can carry only as much as your maximum carrying capability.

See Morrowind for an example. Managing items would then be a simple matter of drag and drop from a list.
