I\'ve been listening to The Strokes again lately, mainly in anticipation of the new album.

Also AFI still rock.

Musically, Kurt Cobain wasn\'t the greatest guitarist by any means, but his lyrics are groundbreaking.  This more than makes up for anything else, from my viewpoint anyway.

PS:  I know I am gonna get blasted for the guitar comment, but it\'s my opinion. and the tomato throwing begins...NOW

mmm something we can agree on.

most people i know, when on the topic of music always go on about the screaming in such genre\'s.

don\'t get me wrong they\'re entitled to opionate themselves, but they can\'t back it up that it\'s just screaming, and besides I rarely hear the people who listen to such music complain about others tastes.

back ontopicish. still listening to OCremix radio.

mostly into industrial sounds, anything with a good beat really.

For the most part, goland\'s list pwns. need to drop the U2 though possibly with some others.

I dont see whats so good about Kurt Cobain\'s lyrics... but then again I like these lyrics: http://plyrics.com/lyrics/afi/morningstar.html
and http://www.lyricsdomain.com/20/the_libertines/cant_stand_me_now.html

So what?  It\'s still good.

edit:  The lyrics weren\'t groundbreaking.  The only thing ground breaking about Nirvana was that they were a band which was marginally heavy which was getting radio play when everything else was incredibly middle of the road, poppish, overproduced, and generic.

Bands like melvins, helmet, mudhoney, kyuss, sonic youth, dinosaur junior, they were all around.  Why didn\'t they make it big in the same way?

Of course, there are still people around who don\'t understand why \"slaves to the grind\" didn\'t blow Nevermind out of the water.

Xalthar,

You pegged my taste in music.  REAL heavy metal.

Although, I appreciate all the people that like the generic rock and pop, as we need diversity.
