I think anyone who listens to any hardcore needs to check out the (now dead) band Refused if they don\'t know about them already.

The Shape of Punk to Come is the best hardcore album I\'ve ever heard.  Their older one is definately good too.

Of course I\'m just getting the first 30 seconds of each song, but would you really put these guys above black flag, minor threat, husker du, etc?

I think most of the songs are about 5mins, so the first 30seconds don\'t really do much for them.  I mean, you don\'t even get to the actual song on New Noise (their most popular song)

The things is, Refused blends a lot of different styles together, and I really like variety in my songs...while Minor Threat might have better single songs or lyrics I think when comparing albums Refused beats them, I just don\'t get tired of listening to it over and over.

In any case while it might not be the \"best\" I think if you listen to those bands you will definately like them.  I mean, according to that site it\'s $1.55 to buy it.

Just my opinion though..

Pretty cool that you can sample songs, however.

I like bands such as a-ha, The Bangles, Duran Duran, and Depeche Mode.  Call me old, but it\'s not too far from the truth. ;)

I did some research on those bands..  eh.  they are... pretty much satanistic.

Disturbed is myfavorite band. and slipknot is not far behind. they may be rebelious, and perhaps violent. but I wouldnt call them flat out satanistic. I hope you were joking when you suggested those bands. lol

oh.. linkin park is pretty good.. sometimes theyre a little to emo for me

Linkon park is whiney, so if you think that emo is whiney then I can understand that.  You have to understand that when I hear emo, I think bands like indian summer, rites of spring, elements of need, even husker du and jawbreaker even though they\'re hardcore and punk respectively.

But yeah, I listen to a lot of music which would be classified as Satanic.  Most of the bands are actually athiest however.

But it surprises me that you listen to Slipknot, yet Christian virtues are important to you.  \"Heretic\'s Anthem\", much?  \"While you\'re 555 I\'m 666\" would be a prime example of Satanic lyrics.  There are other spots where they associate themselves with violence and the marginalized of society.  Doesn\'t disturbed have a song where they repeat \"let the bodies hit the floor\" over and over again?

But yeah, pig destroyer and agoraphobic nosebleed definately have very violent lyrics.

One last point though:  You said \"research\", and not \"listen\".  That means that you probably went to a Christian Fundamentalist website where  you \"researched\" the bands to see if they were \"approved\" or not.  You have the right to follow your religious convictions as you see fit, but don\'t you want to think for yourself?  Make your own decisions as an individual?  You can live as you see fit of course, I\'m an outside and relatively Satanic observer, even though I identify as Unitarian Universalist.

A lot of bands have Satanic lyrics, but most of them just seem to have them for shock value and don\'t actually believe that. (I think Alkaline Trio is a good relatively known example of that)

I downloaded 2 of Slayers\'s songs.

1 of nile, that i didnt listen to after the 1st 30 seconds

and I just browsed the names of songs from Tool

1) I do overlook some of the more satanic songs from slipknot, Disturbed as far as i know is clean of such

2) \"Let the bodies hit the floor\" is actually a fovorite of mine from the band Drowning pool. although the man who sings it is dead.

Id have to say I am a strange christian. because I do beleive Im jesus christ and god. I attend sunday mass. and I try to live my life accordingly..

However. I tend to support violence sometimes. I play violent video games. And I would be pleased with a law system that cuts off the criminals arm.. rather than \"turn the other cheek\"

I have nothing wrong with any sort of curse word, In fact as far as i know (correct me if im wrong) The bible says nothing about vulgar language.. other than to never take the lords name in vain (alot of people do.. I will not myself. but I dont fault others for it). I have nothing wrong with violence only all things satanic..  Satan is the only thing I find purely evil and opposed to my religion.

Farewell Moogie, Farewell Draklar, Farewell Drey. you will be missed.

According to the book of Mark, all violence is Satanic.

Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Nile, and Pig Destroyer are all rather extreme forms of metal musically.  Tool and Helmet are more laid back and less grindy, they\'re more easy listening relatively.

Im not an oldschool straight by the book catholic..

Im a teen that is raised catholic.. I beleive in it.. And id like to become a better catholic as I grow.. However I have a rebellious nature, and often time my mind leads me, not my heart.

I lost my faith once.. for a reason But after something like that happened to me. Im closer to god than ever

As a Roman catholic, we arent a bible oriented as some other christian demoninations. I dont translate every single word of the bible and take it for what it is..  The bible is just a guideline for living a good life.    Even an atheist can learn a thing or two from the bible about making the world a better place.

As to violence.. I think that violence may be evil. But somehow i like violent lyrics and games. Perhaps I only see them as truly bad if they happen in real life...  I think hardcore violent mettle keeps me in touch with my rebellious side

Your sort of catching me on a subject im not ready to defend.. and Ive not actually explored my take on..

I think you took my original post wrong.. or I did yours wrong

I thought you were some 40 year old person who listens to the beatles and found my music radical and un-exceptable. so you posted the names of various extreme bands to mock me.
