Elemental damage variations
« on: November 19, 2003, 02:54:21 am »
Rather than give the generic type1, type2 elemental damage where the only difference lies in its \"type,\" perhaps different elemental damage should each have its own special effect.

For example:
Cold damage: in addition to its damage, it can slow down monsters a bit.

Poison damage: The poison can be designed so that people would take advantage of its ability to do damage over a long duration. This permits someone who cannot tank well to hit and run instead.

Fire damage: no effects.

Lightning: has a small chance of stunning monster.

Good idea (on top of elemental weakness/resistances)

Some others from me:
Neither: disrupt mind (decrease will and int for a while)
Wind: can throw the opponent away (nice for archers/mages)
Blessed: decrease luck for a while.

nice idea, but why no effect with fire??

Fire Damage: the opponent gets burned(takes damage untill fire is out)
Ground Damage: the opponent gets buried

What? ?(  ?( ?(
I think there\'s a small misunderstanding here. What\'s the non-special effect of ground(?), blessed(????), ether spells?

Fire damage definetly gets one aflame, if his garments and skin allow it(I don\'t think a kran can be put on fire...).

You don\'t understand me Elscouta. I mean that half of those aren\'t ELEMENTAL damages at all. Blessed fx could be given to sth, but it wouldn\'t be a primary thing. And no special fx, all should be as one.

You said exactly the same things as us. We don\'t want only elemental effects. We also want some special effects (packed as one)

And it\'s not that obvious: in a lot of games, holy is only an element and doesn\'t give some special effects.

The problem is that everyone flew OT.

I agree though, different elemental damages with different additional special fx and some non-elemental types with their special fx are welcome and requested.
