Do we get to keep the present names we have registered?

Provoided that we have created appropriate names for characters, will the present registered names in this ps alpha be kept for the future release?
 and will registered names not in use over a long period of time be released for reregistering?
Also if present registered names are kept how will unwanted ps names be droppped, how are these sorted from the rest? ie: actionjackson ( hope nobody has selected that one! opps sorry! :-o)

Will accounts support multiple characters in the future, allowing you to delete your own, or will there be the ability to delete old accounts?

For crystal blue the database of characters will be wiped.  And we will start anew.  The main reason for this are:

1) the database structure has changed so much there is no other way.
2) The way accounts are created is totally different
3) There is dead wood in the database that needs to be cleaned up.

Most likely we will reserve the names for some people that are well known in the PlaneShift community to maintain their characters.   However, this is at the discretion of the team.  

Crystal Blue will support multiple characters and to have a character deleted will involve a petition to a GM and go through several layers of security.

Perhaps a signup list could be created a few weeks before the database wipe, and anyone who wants to reserve names can put them on the list and have that name assigned to them. Maybe there should be some sort of check to make sure people don\'t try stealing other people\'s names before CB even arrives.

Well, I was thinking we could do it as a web form so you enter in your characters name/password and your email address. It would then place these names on a \'list\' that can only be assigned to that email address. ( The new version will use your email address as an identifier ).

Well I meant you would enter in your current player name/password and your email.  So if you have a player \"Jim Bob\" that you want to keep your name you would enter in Jim Bob/password and your email.  It would then validate the name/password with the current game database and add to the list.  If I tried to register without knowing the password it would refuse.

I agree - saving names is VERY important... So I humbly ask devs to do this pre-CB name-reserving list of nicks - I don\'t want my name to be stolen (I\'m not famous but I like the way it sounds - Ice_Phoenix)
PS 51 rubies - and I\'m happy to lose them... 4 the CB!!!
