ok getting back on subject... i really hope we don\'t have to go through all this again when the next release after CB comes out. There\'s supposed to be like 3 more releases right? It would not be cool if we all had to frantically download the new version to make sure we get our names back...

THis is great I\'m glad i started this thread, if i had to restart creating names i really would not have minded,  but now i see that for people who have put so much work into their character, writing great stories and creating kick ass pic\'s! It would be a shame if they lost there name to anyone else. Hope to add some of my own stuff. PS rocks the future is bright!

Making a web form is the best way to do this. Shouldnt take a good web designer long to set up a form for reserving CB names and Guilds. As long as you got a secure DB for this no worries for hackers getting your info ^^.

Simple as

Places labled with * required.
 
*User Name:_________
*Password:_________
*E-Mail:_________

Guild Name:________
SUBMIT

P.S. Key loggers are a big cause of people losing their account to wannabe hackers. Always make sure your comps are clean and free of malicious code and key loggers. (/me waits for someone to open a executable in their e-mail >< )   :P

Ooooh I\'ve been having to do boring stuff like that all quarter!  Ummmm... for the most part this is all we need then?  Not like it\'s hard to do, but if any devs want to use it to save five minutes they can take it and tweak it where needed.  Sorry I don\'t know any PHP so I can\'t write the other side of this.

And I dunno about reserving guilds... because there are requirements for guilds to be valid, and you can\'t really check those easily through just a form.  People can\'t just go reserving a guild name unless they can prove it does or will exist.

It doesn\'t work yet, as it isn\'t linked with a database as wedge said... you could fill it all day and nothing would happen.

I am very sure you won\'t be able to save your names, so the best thing to do would be to register your char very fast when CB is released :P

this is pretty obvious right now but I (and probally 3000 other people) are going to register names of important peoples names and hijack them and tell the person they can have the account as soon as they gather 3000 tria (or whatever the money is called) easy way to make money for a particularly evil person like me...  :P
