even if you do get a new IP there is a similarity in the adress that is from your ISP. Server firewalls have the ability to block all instances of a certain IP. Not to say that you might not ever be able to log back into the server but any IP that has a consistant veriable can be blocked as soon as it is recognized as the same users IP.

Generally if the Dev\'s/ GM\'s have a problem with you they restict your account and kick/ban any related IP\'s coming from your location. Im hoping the Dev\'s will add a e-mail option in accounts to prevent an excessive amount of registering 20 accounts to the same user. After all there is sure to be multiple characters per account, and only reason i can see to have 2+ accounts is if your on multiple computers running a network and/or your character slots are full.

ok enough babling and side tracking, I think i could be a bit irritated about losing my char name, but i have about 20 names in mind so it doesnt matter much. Just remember to be quick ^^.

They aren\'t being helpful ? It\'s not against the law, they are just protecting themselves. Most ISP have an abuse service to serve that purpose, if they have complaints about a hacker among their subscribers, they will give warnings then end the service. It\'s as simple as that. Have you read your contract ? I\'m sure you will find something like that, even if it\'s well hiden. Unles they are very dumb, but I doubt it

Actually, Cad, all the devs could do is mail the ISP about the problem, and hope they\'ll do something about it. The only people who are allowed to get informations about people and their IP\'s from the ISP is the police... But that doesn\'t stop the devs from simply banning anyone who connects from that ISP/country, so whemy, being stupid isn\'t always smart.

That\'s exactly what I\'m saying from the beginning. And if the problem is serious enough, don\'t worry, they do something about it. Now, I have to admit that how serious a problem like this one could be, from the ISP point of view, is not obvious.

Actually it\'s not so simple. For example, a lot of them have given data about their subscribers to powerful companies recently, but that\'s off-topic  

I think it\'s pointless to go any further in that discussion anyway. Someone has proven himself to be a fool trying to defend what was most probably a bad joke (at least that\'s what I hope for him), and failed to do so. Hopefully, like you said, next time he\'ll think before posting.
