Server problems
« on: November 29, 2003, 04:17:08 pm »
I\'ve created a character and when I want to upload it, I get the following message: \"The server is not running or is not reachable. Please check the website or forums for more info.\"
Can somebody help me?

If you\'ve only tried it once, I\'d wait 5 minutes, or an hour, mabye longer, and try again.  If it still doesnt work, make sure you have the server address correct.

Do you have a firewall running?

If so, make sure you allow UDP traffic through port 13331.

I don\'t think so. If I have one, how do I know it. And how can I allow UDP traffic through port 13331?

You\'d probably know it if you had a firewall running on your system. If you\'re not sure, look at the little system tray icons next to the clock. One of them would be your firewall.

Consult the firewall\'s documentation for instructions on how to open ports.

Not always, if you had a router with a firewall there would be no icon in the systray.
So if there\'s no icon that does not mean that you don\'t have a firewall.

None of the icons next to my clock is a firewall.

Do you connect to the internet via a router?

If you don\'t know, try finding someone who can tell you how your internet is set up.

Then you should open up UDP port 13331 on the router.

If you do not know how to open up ports or even access the router you should try to find the manuals that came with it, or ask the person who installed it to help you out.

If you have a Linksys router I can tell you how to open ports on it for specific traffic(TCP/UDP on port #####).

Edit What type of router do you have?
