Are the only files on the download page for a Demo??
« on: December 07, 2003, 04:23:12 pm »
Just curious about that. As I looked at the download page it said that this is only a demo. Is there a full version of the game somewhere? I am on a dial-up connection... a poor one at that. I don\'t even get 24,000 bps most of the time, so to download just a demo to me would be worthless unless there is a full version of the game somewhere.

p.s. I am unable to get broadband where I live so that is out of the question.

The demo is the full game. It\'s still is development. An update is coming out soon, so if u started now, u might finish by the time it\'s out, so u\'ll be ready to update.  :P

Ps. U could get satellite Broardband if u\'ve got a bit of money sloshing about. 3.5k a year it costs I think. U get about 2mb/s.

We were looking at satellite, but do not have the $100 a month it would cost for the first 12 months to get it. If we weren\'t to do teh payment plan, but pay for the equipement all at once it would be $700 for it. Either way we just don\'t have the money for it.

If you\'re looking for a satellite connection anyway, be sure to check the specs of the provider. Most of them have a very high ping delay, which makes them unusable for online games. Check also how the upstream link is done. Of course, you could use it to download the software and still use your dial-up for signing in  ;)

Good luck !

if you have a horrible connection speed what makes you want to take up plane shift? at the moment there is horrible lag so wait untill crystal blue (the next big update) untill you take the time to download. also to get the game you could find a really nice person with a fast connection speed to burn the game onto cds and ship em to your house.  but that will probally cost you somewhere between 50-200 dollars depending on how nice the person is... :(

Connection speed has nothing to do with the slowness of Planeshift, I ran just as fine with my 56k as I do with my new connection.  And I\'ve always hated satellite connections, my friend has one and it\'s just bad stuff, gets disconnected all the time...I don\'t think it\'s worth the money.

\"if you have a horrible connection speed what makes you want to take up plane shift? at the moment there is horrible lag so wait untill crystal blue (the next big update) untill you take the time to download.\"

That was the other thing I was worried about, but I was thinking that if I can play SWG I would be able to play this game as well.

Cadripper,
  We more then likely won\'t be getting satellite at all for that reason. I also don\'t really know anyone other then my other 1/2 mom that has a broadband connection and she doesnt know how to use computers that well and doesn\'t have a CD burner anyways.

So far I only found VDSL technology which delivers up to 50 Mbps within 300 meters range (maximum distance: 1500m). Either you made a typo or you\'re very lucky and use a brand new xDSL technology. In the second case, can you please tell us more about it? (country, provider, etc...)

He\'s joking. No DSL that cheap provides that speed, unless your ISP has just bought up loads of fibre-optic lines and has unlimited speed.
Edit: In which case they\'re probably in debt and can\'t afford to give it that cheap... :P

45mbps = $3500/month canadian - used mostly for servers.
100mbps = 8 second planeshift download.

lol, xDSL is the fastest in my country for the public. A slow 8mb/s. Cost like 3k a year. Only availiable in London and other big cities near the big exchanges. :D
