Playing problems
« on: December 08, 2003, 01:13:25 am »
Hi all,

I have problems with playing the game.
I know it is not finished yet, but there are people playing, right?

It don?t runs smoothly, it jerks most of the time, so its not playable.
I know you cant help the lag, but its really bad.
I have ADSL.

And when I quit my screen get black and my pc is making a lot of noise and working hard to get ride of the black screen.
Something with the rendering taking of? Don?t know nothing much about rendering, only that it have to calculate the light and dark, if I?m right.

And the name of your char. it can?t have a space or ? , I try to name my char Kahlan-Sidhe or Kahlan-DS cause there is a Kahlan already, but it can?t. Perhaps in the future?

But the world looks very promising, so I hope I could really play sometimes.

I?m a member of the Diablo clan Daoine Sidhe and a member mentioned this game, so I was curious about it.
I make our Newsletter and would write a piece about it, how it looks and if its playable, because we always are looking for new games to play.

But I think I have to wait a little bit, cause I can?t tell much now.

Hope you have some answers for me, and hopefully I can play sometime.

Grz

Hi kahlansidhe,

Could you post up the specs for your computer?  Generally speaking, all of the \"lag\" created in the game is caused by the user\'s computer, since the code in the current version is not optimized for all systems configurations yet.
Seeing your computer specs may shed some light on to why it is not running properly.

Please include your operating system, speed of computer, ram, and video card.

Like Ghostslayer said, the poor performance and jerkyness come from bugs and non-optimised code. It is not happening everytime, mostly when there are more people online, and especially if they are messing with the engine (like going through walls, being stuck etc...). Hopefully, those bugs will be solved in the next release  :)

The black screen and noise most probably come from the change of resolution of your monitor (in fact, the H/V frequencies of the video signal) when you switch from the game to windows.

the game engine is beta, that\'s why it lags very bad on some computers, about the black screen I have this problem too, it doesn\'t make that noise though. i know it\'s not from changing resolutions because i use the same resolution for windows as for the game. it especcialy does this when something other then just exiting the game causes it to stop, like linkdead or serverdrop. the game sometimes won\'t even close without ctrl+alt+del when that happens.
