Flip2k, you are scaring me.  Yugi-oh is not becoming the combat system of Planeshift.  However, card mini-games have been discussed.
The key to manipulative bargaining is to ask for something twice as big as what you want, then smile and nod when you are talked down to your original wish. You are still young, my apprentice, and have much to learn in the ways of the force. -UtM

A Yugioh combat system?  NO thank you.  I\'d leave right away if that happened.

Yu-Gi-Oh: 2 people go head to head in an arena that produces holographic monsters and so forth, they pit their wits and knowledge against eachother in an attempt to win the Duel, (they use cards to summon their creatures).

Oh god, i hate yugioh..... tho if u want duels, we could at least make it realistic. Like in the 17th and 18th centuries when two guy came out with guns or swords(that would probly work better for PS) and fought to the death. Thats better than some gay kid playing cards to save the world.

Q: How many Planeshifters does it take to expalin a simple concept to a newb?
A: Six. Five to argue on who\'s explanation is right, and Moogie to lock the thread.

The simplest form of PS\'s battlesystem has already been coded into the next release of the game. There\'s no way a radical change in the system (to an already-used idea, no less) will occur at this point.

PS is about originality, not copying everyone else\'s ideas and following the same old generic fantasy stereotypes.

yea, Yugioh fighting style does not fit to MMORPGs like PS!
To drop this discussion, cause everyone decided that would be borin:

Its not round-based, id say.. See? They have attack speed idea, and i guess they wont drop this part....
Otherwise PS would not be the big fun thing, either

i think that they should put a fighting system turn based but with turn lasting depending on the players agility so you hit faster or slower and defend the same way...

so if you have high agility you will be able to hit every 6 seconds or if its low then every 12 seconds... ranging from 6-12 .... as an example =)

Seriously people, skip key words like under and construction  :P

Anyways, I imagine a great arena system would be like if they were gladiator battles, with every man to himself pitted against a mix of players and monsters in a big ring. Now that, would be cool. Sans olive oil and overwhelming testosterone.

And turn-based fighting systems are a bit boring. Kinda why the story was the only thing keeping me fighting in every single final fantasy game there ever was ( except 6, that was fun  :D )

And Moogie\'s right, most people pull things from every other game they have played, although I do admit some are good games, but why again would you want to play some crappy (idiodic), marketing srategy-driven card game in a mmorpg. I thought that\'s why there was Yu-Gi Oh on the GBA and the PS/2.

Although, it would be cool to have some sort of game you can play inside PS, like crystal checkers or something,  :D
