Flexable Guild Hierarchy
« on: December 14, 2003, 02:26:37 pm »

The guilds should define 9 levels of hierarchy. Level 9 is the leader, other levels need to be defined by the guild leader.

What I would like to see is a system which allows more than 9 ranks. Also I\'d like a system which allows multiple ranks on the same level. For example:

lvl9: Blood Lord
lvl8: Corruptor
lvl7: Hellflame , DreadBlade, and Wraith - three ranks on lvl7.
lvl6: Fiend
etc.

Sets the named player to level specified in guild. This command can be issued by any member of the guild but he can specify a level that\'s equal or lower than his level.

I don\'t like this either, as it allows any member of any rank except the lowest to promote, not just the leaders. Their should be an option, where you can choose which ranks can promote/demote.

Yes, i think this is a good idea. Maybe some guilds dont need more than 5 levels, some maybe need 15 levels. But there should be a limit. 100 levels would be to much.  Im sure some guilds will be very large. Also, i think the creator of the guild should decide wich levels can recruit new members.
A new day, a new failure!

I think you will be able to pick individual people that will be able to recruit.
And yea, that\'s a good idea.

I would like a fancy GUI \"Create a new guild\" wizard with steps, name, leader, ranks. That would be great..

I was thinking of something along the line of when u make ranks, groups, and permissions on a forum. Each \'rank group\' would have it\'s own title, and permissions. It would be easy to promote/demote people, as u would just type their name in to change group.

If the guilds were able to have a diffrent number of ranks then 9 when would this be set up? Would you set it up when you first created your guild saying I want 5 rank levels or 12 rank levels or whatever or would it be something like a new guild gets 5 ranks when they get there 20th member they can add another rank at 30th member another rank and so on and so on?

Rather setting that at beginning and being able to change that later.
If guild would be getting more ranks as it grows, then it wouldn\'t be stable organisation...

Well I think those rules for guild structure will change.  They were put there a long time ago and just gave a loose outline for anyone who wanted to create a guild early on.  But I agree with Xor, it would be nice to have \'lieutenants\', a group of same level members that had different jobs and specifications.  But again they\'ll probably change those rules once guilds are able to become more active in-game.

Yeah I guess I wasn\'t thinking about how much of a pain it would be to change all of the current rankings in your guild everytime you got a new rank available. Also you are right that would make it pretty unstable.

th AO saw this problem with all the departments, so we vrought down the levels by jkust making all the levels of each class in that one class, and onme would just know there rank within that rank by thought, ever councallor is called just that, then apprentice, adept, and then the great three have there own rank

my how times have changed.....

yuh, that could be done, but It still wouldn\'t be as good sa having the seperate ranks. I know work has been done on the guilds in CB so we\'ll have to wait and see the changes. :D

Private
Corporal
Sergeant
Lieutenant
Captain
Major
Colonel
General

That\'s 8, and is enough to manage millions of soldiers in one organization.  I think you can figure out how to make do with 9.

Yes, but the possibility to have more title at the same rank describing your position in the organisation sounds good. Like Lord of House of Science or Lady of House of Magic.
