Object Library
« on: December 15, 2003, 02:52:25 pm »
Newbie Alert!.......

I\'ve been reading through a number of these threads. Everyone has their own idea on a good weapon, a building or even a whole city.

If someone could write a \"Dummies guide to creating objects\", people could construct their own objects and put them into some common library. When the developers get round to generating new content for the game, they\'ll have a ready supply of objects to use, or at least some templates they can nick and adapt for what they need.

It could allow more player input into the game and generate content more quickly. As a side effect, it will also fix the mapping buzz a lot of players get from time to time.

Appologies if this has been raised in a thread before.

There\'s already special threads for item, spell and cities. There\'s just people who don\'t know them. but I\'m sure that if you create a nice index with all these thread, a mod will stick it.

This is something that I really would like to do and I think it is a definite feature for the future.  I would like to be able to support free packages like Blender for people to model their objects and set their data up in an XML file.

However, *we* are still working out the best way to do this so until we can come up with a nice set of guidelines it is a bit hard for us to take player created things.

But again I think that this is what will make PlaneShift constantly changing is donations like this from the community.

Yes,  but a Nazi flag would be worse.

lol, dildo of doom, the uberist weapon of them all.... :D

Obviously the devs would pick what\'s suitable, so they wouldn\'t choose summin like a nazi flag, as that wouldn\'t be very Planeshift would it?

Plz note that the symbol on the nazi flag wasn\'t made by the nazi\'s and it means \'peace\' or summin similar, so technically it could be used. :D

P.S the nazi symbol was derived from the old chinese character for peace. many say it is from europe in the midieval times and sometimes they say it is from japan but i really derives from ancient china. :)

Thats very complicated. Eh... hard to explain... Well... il try.
If you use this in a historical game when you play aginst nazis, its legal, but if the main \"good\" character is a Nazi hating all foreigners and hes wearing the nazi sign its illegal. It deppends on the situation. If you run around with a Nazi flag, itll be illegal.

And the chinese symbol is only in the middle of the nazi symbol.

um sorry but i dont think so... see theres something called free speech. if you are a nazi its not like its illigeal. they cant put you in jail for your beliefs because that is facism and that is basically what the nazi\'s were.
you can wear the symbol, you\'ll just get beat up by lots of people.

PS i said that the nazi symbol was derived from the chinese symbol. i didnt say the whole flag was from the chinese symbol. in fact i said nothing about a flag.. :(
