sleeping?
« on: December 16, 2003, 01:49:13 pm »
Might seem trivial but how about a sleeping mode, where you actually book a room in an inn or caravan (for a fee), and then go to sleep. This rejuvinates you at an accellerated rate, and meanwhile you can\'t defend yourself or chat with others, but you can sort your inventory out, craft personal items, etc.. you know, for times when you\'ve rampaged from one end of the world to the other collecting every sort of item and being hurt by monsters all the while, and then you need a quiet place to rest, recuperate, and sort stuff out. Maybe even book an inn or buy a home to go back to when you log out.

I think sleeping/resting will be in the game in some form and this  i think is also covered in another thread.
Still I think that you will be able to rest in a lot of places but some would be safer than others.
And that you will regain some healt/energy after resting.
My in game character\'s are Wolfshade and Kayto! no they wont try to join two different Guilds  !!!!

you can already hire a room in kada\'s tavern, you\'ll get a message it\'s not implemented, but that means it will probably be implemented later.

Just a question but how would you be able to sort your inventory or craft personal items when you were sleeping? If you can\'t chat or defend yourself you shouldn\'t be able to take any other actions.

Just thinking I better get a pet to guard me while I sleep then. I would hate to get killed for taking a nap.

I hope the crystal will grant us power to stay awake 24/7. I dont like sleeping, because you cant do nothing while asleep. I think its enough with sitting down in the green grass and relax fore a moment... and you can chat,  sort your inventory or eat something.

Yes, and it would also give addicted players an opportunity to get some real-life food and sleep. ;)

doing \"real life\" stuff was kind of my thought for what I meant by sleeping. I could \"sleep\" my character, which would put her or him into a non-movable state, and go and do real world stuff (like cook dinner, shower, watch telly, etc) while keeping an eye on the game (reading the chat window, sorting out what\'s in my inventory, etc). Coming awake might take a minute, so it\'s not just the same as sitting down or standing there dormant.

Well I think implementing as you describe would be the world\'s most boring game, but perhaps a sleep anim could be optional when someone is marked as afk or something like that.

What about NPC\'s? Simulated sleep? I think the players will want things like coup-de-grace, healing with sleep, speeding time...

I think that sleeping could be a nice implement but it also shouldn\'t take forever. i mean who wants to sit around and wait for it to stop. it should be maybe a 1-2 minute task but while in the sleeping mode u are dormat and can\'t do anything. for those people who want to do \"real life\" tasks then they can go to sleep and do the task but they won\'t wake up until they click on a buttom that wakes the person up. also if u stay to sleep a bit longer like say 5 min. then your health will be fully recovered.
