different "always run" feature
« on: December 31, 2003, 01:08:17 am »
I know you can press \"R\" to always run...
What I would appreciate very much is a key enabling your character to always run, but only if you press the \"move forward\" button. (e.g. CAPS LOCK)
Everyone who played e.g. Diablo II knows what I\'m talking about :)
That should not be too hard to realize for the programmers, and at least me and my SHIFT-key would thank you a lot :]
I know I\'m not the only one out there who would appreciate such a feature *g*.

I think you should switch run with walk. Make the character always run but you can use shift to walk. The walk right now is so slow so you are seem to be always using run and this would make it easier.

I don\'t think making run the default mode of movement is a good idea...  Is it just me, or is running not very RP? *shrugs*

Personally, unless I have something better to do (i.e. crystal hunting, or somewhere I need to be very quickly), I prefer to walk.

Anyway, not having taken a look at the PS source, an \"always run\" hack shouldn\'t be too difficult.

There could be something like how the M button works now.
Press R once to run, press R again to only run when you press forward and press R another time to return to normal walk mode.
This shouldn\'t be that hard to implemend, and it would be nice for people who like to run, not walk.

After \'bout 7 hours of crystal hunting yesterday I can\'t feel my finger today... ;)

I\'m sure they will change the auto-run to a run toggle, however running will probably degrade your stamina when that stat is implemented, so you may only want to use it when running is necessary or stamina is not.
Ninjas have feelings too.  Mostly they feel like dancing.

I think that the current walking speed is kinda slow! maybe there should be three different walkspeeds, walking, running and sprinting.
Walking doesnt use any Stamina indeed you could regain some Stamina while Walking.
Running does use a minimum of stamina and is the normal speed(maybe a bit slower than current running).
Sprinting uses a high amount of stamina but is depending on Agility and Stuff 125% of the current running speed.

Furthermore there should be a toggling of speeds not like the current run-toggle, but more like toggling between the speeds without having to run forward all the time. This way no keys(like shift atm) would be harmed and u could easily decide how to walk around.
