if there gonna have steal skills these are what i think they should have, at least some of these:

1. assassin\'s weapons (dagger-like weapons including katars)
2. stealth (sneaking and hiding)
3. pickpocketing
4. lock picking
5. climbing
6. thrown weapons (for poison darts and blow guns)
7. assassin\'s speed (slightly increases running speed, jumping height, and climbing speed, required to be in stealth maybe? (allows to run while in stealth if required))
8. Thief magic (a different form of magic that uses the user\'s surroundings and the user\'s life energy or health to cast)
9. Backstab
10. dodge (increases chance of the enemy missing u)
11.  thief\'s crafting (making lockpicks, darts, blow guns, and making/applying poison to weapons)
12. distraction (increases chance to pickpocket an NPC, and make it obvious for a normal player)

heres a list on what should, and can be added, but if u dont like somethin tell me, and change it to ur liking and share it, it\'d be helpful

i just had an interesting thought... i want to buy some caltrops, and poison them.  or is that just too dastardly?

sounds good to me, sometimes i\'d rather have fun just dropping caltrops in the middle of the street and have ppl start sayin, \"watch out, on this street some idiot decided to drop poison caltrops\"

Caltrops will not injure other players, only monsters and NPCs. (read about pvp, etc.. i doubt that you ll be able to injure whoever walks on them...)

ya, as far as i know there not gonna be any PvP but i also read something that if someone DOES attack someone that the mods are gonna come up with a way to make sure they dont wanna do it again, but i dunno, we\'ll see what happends, maybe someone very dedicated to PvP and PS will ask permission to host a PvP server and to script anything PvP onto a PvP version of PS (which should be able to play on both non-PvP and PvP servers)

OK I hear a lot about assassin weapons like Daggers, and knives and poisions and stuff like that. But you can\'t just limit it to that, an assassin shouldn\'t be stuck with those.. I mean someone can come up behind you with a sword and run you through. Bows can be used.. a number of things can be used to assassinate people. By generalizing it to a few things its kind of sucking the fun out of it... if the do have assassins and such, I don\'t plan on running around with a dagger all the time, I want a nice sword to save my life.

ya i know what u mean and all but u got some probs with those ideas

1. swords, bows, and stuff like that are already part of the combat skills, if u want a sword then go ahead but its not gonna count as an assassin\'s weapon seeing how its already counted as a melee weapon

2. an assassin was ment for using small weapons such as poisoned weapons, daggers, knives, blow guns with darts, thrown weapons

theres already alot of weapons there that can consider it was its own skill, but if u dont like it train for swords and use them instead, im sure u can still use a backstab and all but swords probably wont hit as fast as small weapons, and would burden u more and such, but we\'ll see what they do

How about sneack attack instead of backstab...but it will work even if you are not behind but if any other factor is present...for example monster is engaged in battle with someoen else...or it\'s dark...the sneack attck is automatical and must not always succeed...

You can try, but you shall fail! Seek us not, we shall find you.

I have read another thread about NPCs being suspicious. Perhaps walking around with a weapon in your hand is one of those things that makes them suspicious. Now, knives, daggers, shurikens, etc. can be hidden up someone\'s sleeves, in their boots, behind their ears, and so on. Perhaps assassins can do such a thing if they want to go somewhere but don\'t want to be seen with a big weapon in hand, or in a sheath.

I like the idea. The sneak attack contains the element of surprise, and you don\'t always have to stab someone in the back to surprise them. Also, if the monster was in combat with another, and you tried to attack the monster... An interesting effect would be if the monster just happens to know you are there and leaps back as you attack. That would be when it is not successful. As for automatical sneak attacks, I disagree somewhat. Sure, if you attack someone, it might just happen to be a sneak attack. What if you want the person to realize that you\'re there, so you can distract them? There may be better methods, of course, but you may not think of any other method for various reasons (no materials, tendency to stick to idea, etc.) This paragraph is getting too long now.

What do you think?

I liked your first paragraph a lot, Wormtail. Particulary the idea of being able (or miss) to hide a dagger in your boots when entering a temple or a city where holding a sword is banned.

Definately Roleplay...

I have a idea
Smother- Cover the persons mouth with a cloth of with your hand if you are not strong enough you will be thrown off and the gaurds alerted.
