Stealth Skills
« on: January 01, 2004, 08:32:33 pm »
Ok I\'ve made this thread to discuss about Stealth Skills.

Here are the skills that are already planed in Planeshift:

- Assassin\'s weapons: make and apply poison
- Backstab: powerfull attack from behind
- Climb
- Find and Remove traps
- Setting Traps
- Stealth (Hide in shadows): hide and/or sneak
- Lockpicking
- Pick pockets

And these are the one i would like to see as well (basically taken from EverQuest):

- Dodge (random)
- Safe fall (goes with \"Climb\"): to hurt less when you fall from high
- Double attack (random)

...Add your ideas / post comments

Well maybe

1)Speed-running fast,killin\' quick
2)Jumping,leaping..building to building
3)like u said SNEAK (if theres going to be moveing sound)
4)special tools for silent kill..(sound??)
5)maybe if theres going to be blood then a skill not to leave glues, signes? ;)
6)this is not a thieves skill but draging bodies..

Maybe Ill come up with something else later

Yeah, good idea. Concerning your number 1), i think a Sprint skill would be effective: maybe like running faster for something like 10 sec to distance your opponment.

I was also thinking about (i don\'t know the word so i\'ll describe them): these are little spiked pieces of metal you throw behind you to slow (and dmg a bit) your ennemies.

Also i like your ideas of dragging bodies (unconscious or corpses).

Dodge is a combined skill of what is now Agility and Luck, i think. so it\'s already there in some way.

Safe fall is the Hard Skin advantage.

I haven\'t seen any Double Attack skill, so that would be nice to have. maybe it\'s part of the ambidexterity skill?

1, 2 and 3 are dependend on your agility i think, if you stab someone in the back it should make a lot less sound then if you just charge in with a spear or whatever, so it would be nice to have a silent weapons, or a skill that makes you use your weapons more silently.
I like the idea of some way of not leaving traces, i don\'t know how exactly it would have to be implemented though.
Dragging bodies would be nice, i think it takes a while for bodies to dissapear so in that time you could do with it whatever you want(loot, move, maybe even use pieces to eat :P)

Thats kinda...sick...ya...

Anyway i think sprinting would be cool to have but there should be a downside to it so people dont just sprint everywhere they go...like you slowly lose hp when you sprint, or you can only sprint for a few seconds, and then you have to wait a min. untill you can sprint again

Yes, good system Icefalcon.

To be able to sprint you would first need to have the skill (buy it?) and it should be only useable for a certain time (say 30 mins) and yes, maybe you could loose a bit of hp when you are sprinting.

May the devs see this thread and give opinion / implant some of the ideas above... :D

sprinting as a skill? Hmm, perhaps just to improve your speed, or sprint longer (stamina) or be able to sprint AND jump as high as normally or to be able to sprint in difficult terrain. Sprinting in general imho is something everyone fit enough to fight monsters can do... :)

I believe that assassins should have aerial attacks that can silently take out enemies that are on a lower level terrain than yourself! (Just my 2 cents) :)

How about...

1. Assasin\'s weapons(knives,daggers,poison stuff,etc.)

2.Lockpicks

3.Pickpocketing

4.People that hire you

I hope these fit your style.

P.S. I don\'t CARE if someone posted some of these suggestions.

good ideas, and the little bits of pointy metal mentioned are called Caltrops.  think sharpened jacks, however you throw thew, they land with a spike pointing up.  primitive landmines, basically.  they worked on horses, too, but probably not on kran, or maybe only half damage...

Jessyn

BTW, yes, i would like to see caltrops, but they would be VERY hard to implement, unless they only hit hostiles, and had a time limit on the order of 10 minutes...

I just thought about another skill: 6th sense

You could be able to feel how many people around you are within voice range when you talk (or when you whisper), any people can pick it but for spies it\'s definitely a must.

Another side of the skill could be a warning when someone spots you while you\'re sneaking/hiding.

I have no precise idea of how it could be implemented, maybe little lightnings around your head like spiderman, or the border of the window turning into some obvious colour.
