Okay at first basically I would create a character and try to upload and it would say that my account was corrupted or whatever. So to fix this problem, I found the link on this site to delete that account. When I recreated I ran into another problem and the program said that I was already logged in to the server. So, again I had the character deleted. After reading through the forums I read about enabling port 13331, so I went into port forwarding in my linksys wireless router set up and enabled port 13331 for UDP. Then I recreated my character (Matsakow) IN safemode. Finally the planeshift went to the login sequence and it said something like ....initializing world. And at that point the program said it was not responding in task manager, so I ended the task. When I recreated again, it said I was still logged in even though it has been about 12 hours later.
Perhaps it could possibly have to do with the specs on my computer. I have an AMD athlon processor 1000 Ghz, 120mb RAM, GEFORCE2 graphics card. I am using cable internet. Win XP (yes I did change the properties of both OpenGL and safe mode to win98/ME.
