I was helping another player with it last summer (MB tech support). I had spotted it at Sourceforge already and took an interest. When CB went public I was on in a few days. Currently working off the need to play, so that I can take more interest in helping out.
Software is created by Trial and Eror
and Trial and Errror and did I mention Trial ...

oh geez, how did i find ps? about a year ago i did a 24 hour net crawl for free rpg\'s [a 24 hour net crawl is when i lock myself in, drink way too much caffeine, eat pizza and search the web for information about a single subject for 24 hours]

i dug through forums warez sites search engines rpg sites mmo sites, the whole works out of all that i found and tried ps was one of the best and one of the only two i still play.

Originally a friend had pointed it out to me, but a client for my platform hadn\'t been released yet and wasn\'t looking to do so anytime soon. So I bookmarked it and forgot it.

Months later, a client was compiled and the news popped up in a mac community forum, so here I am.

I am pretty sure I found Planeshift on http://www.mpogd.com :)
(and I probably found -that- from various Google searches along the lines of free online rpg, online mmorpg, open source mmorpg, etc. ^^ )

I found PS through the Dark Basic programming forums.  It was all by coincidence actually, I thought it was a topic about PlanetSide.  Let\'s just say I was pleasantly surprised. :D

It was a discussion of how some guy paid $26500 USD for a piece of real-eastate in another MMORPG that is free to play, but lets you exchange real world cash for in-game items and vice versa. Its pretty amazing to think that for a weekend of playing computer games you can earn hundreds or even thousands of dollars, what a job!! I\'ve heard of people selling Everquest items on ebay and so on, heard all sorts of stories about Ultima Online, but had never checked out any sort of graphical mmorpg before.. though I was into muds in the late 90\'s.

One post suggested that people investigate this opensource mmorpg that runs under linux called Planeshift, I jumped aboard the Molecular Blue bandwagon about 4 days before the server was downed in a pre-Crystal Blue migration phase, and havent looked back since!

I\'ve chosen the option \"Other\", because the first time I read about PlaneShift was in a Portuguese games magazine (BGamer).
