College Dropout II: Discipline
« on: January 13, 2004, 04:35:15 am »
God i hate discipline, the idea of reliquishing the power to self govern; To give up mine own and follow some others so that i may gain wisdon...long term good...short term bad. Problem is that i\'ve been programmed from day one by television, modern ways...instant gratification is a pleasure...I need it...it is the crack rock to the base-head to me; The jolt cola and double shot of mocha for the cafiene freak ; The bootylicious hip-hop honey next door for the 18 yr. old virgin to me.
I want that shit, i need that shit, and the discipline it takes to dedicate myself to school seems unreachable
like i need instant gratification so much so that i don\'t even go to strip clubs now that i\'m 18... who needs a dick tease; If your naked in front of me and gesturing sexualy... I\'m gonna need it then and there, all over the club...on stage...the bar, champagne room, vip lounge...
see...I\'m too animilistic to make it at school
maybe i\'ll be a porn star

Indeed, I know the feeling.  Though it isn\'t quite as bad for me.
The key to manipulative bargaining is to ask for something twice as big as what you want, then smile and nod when you are talked down to your original wish. You are still young, my apprentice, and have much to learn in the ways of the force. -UtM

Actually, you might just really have one of those mental disorders...

Discipline is not relinquising the power of self-government - it is a deliberate and conscious choice to sacrifice a short term benefit for some gain (yours or someone elses) but it is *always* your choice.

That\'s why it\'s so darned difficult - I was up till 1AM playing games and so I was unconcious for most of my Numerical Analysis class.

Here\'s an idea that might work for you. Take a martial arts course.... Try to find a serious one. It\'s a good way to build discipline and get exercise at the same time.

Another thing is that some people are built to be extremely repulsed to certain fields like computers, biology, teaching, chemistry, fitness... You just need to find one you think will be enjoyable. I hate biology with a passion even though I have a weird obssession with insects.... I would probably be an entomologist if computers hadn\'t got to me first.
