This whole thing spawned from a dream which I\'d rather not retell as it is was pretty twisted and very graphic.  But anyway it got me thinking on the unexplained which I have always been a big fan of.  I was just curious as to what other people\'s opinions are.  So I\'ll just throw out a few things I believe in and those I don\'t believe in.

I guess the obvious topic should come first.  Aliens.  I definently believe in aliens and I think anyone who doesn\'t is kidding themselves.  I mean there are millions of planets out their so there has to be life out there.  And it gets me thinking.  Maybe Earth is the backwoods of the universe.  I mean you see all these sci-fi movies where there are galatic governments and races of aliens working together and interacting.  What if there really are those things out there and we\'re just too far away from it.  As far as aliens being on Earth, I\'m kind of 50 50 on.  I\'m sure there have been a few aliens who have visited Earth, but I seriously doubt they have abucted humans and used alien probes on them.  I think they are more observing us.

Roswell.  Something happened at Roswell and there is a cover-up, I mean that is obvious.  Was it aliens, was it a failed experiment or secret plane?  I dunno.  But something was covered up there and I am against that as I believe in the freedom of information.

How about ghosts next.  Don\'t believe in them.  I think that half of the stories you here are made up and the other half are just the product of over active imaginations.  When you die, that\'s it.  No coming back.  I don\'t know what happens after death but I don\'t believe anyone comes back to haunt houses or people.

Magic.  This is something I gave a lot of thought on.  I mean it is possible.  And if you are at all religious which I am not then you have to believe in magic.  Because in a sense that\'s what miracles are.  Magic.  Walking on water, resurrection, bringing people back from the dead, producing something from nothing.  You find a lot of those types of things in many games nowadays.  I mean you here about all these theories about people using their entire brain at any given time.  What if that could spark some sort of unknown force?  It\'s possible.

Psychics.  I don\'t believe in most psychics.  And I am actually sickened by shows such as Crossing Over, because you see this guy fool people into believing that he is actually talking to deceased family members.  I don\'t believe that you can talk to the dead because as I said before once your dead you\'re cut off from the world of the living.

I\'m gonna combine the next two topics.  The Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot.  I believe in both of them.  It\'s not that hard to believe that their are endangered species out there that are so scarce that they have yet to be discovered.  Scientists are still discivering species of marine life today that were thought to be extinct for millions of years.  The Loch Ness Monster is more believable to me.  The waters of the Loch Ness are so dark and cloudy that a marine animal could possibly be there and not be able to be seen.  There is a scientist that proved that dinosaur eggs could have been frozen for millions of years during the ice age and hatched around 10,000 years ago.  Apparently he conducted an experiment on a chicken egg where he froze it for quite some time and it still hatched when thawed.  And the species of dinosaur he believes it to be, plesiosaur, is vegitarian so it could easily survive on what\'s in the Loch.

There\'s more stuff I could put down but I\'m tired so I\'ll leave it at that.  Anyway post your thoughts if you like.  Or call me a wacko, which ever you like.

About the last two, Big Foot was proven to be a hoax and they\'ve sonar scanned the entire Lochness Lake.

As for the rest of that, life exists somewhere else in the universe, but the only way it\'s been here would correlate to an origin theory.  Magic and ghosts are both as real as anything, which is not very.  \"Psychic\" is a relative term.  People can deduct things both conciously and subconsciously to come up with predicitions and observances that may aswell be clairvoyant.  All that talking to the dead stuff is bs of course.

About the aliens part... with about 100 billion star systems (some binary or even tertiary) in each galaxy, and about 200,000 galaxies in the observable universe (as far as we can see), the chances of other life somewhere out there is extremely high.

The question is, what percent of it is intelligent? What % of that is still around? Of that % around, are they close enough to communicate?

Why I don\'t believe in things like Roswell or any alien abduction scenarios:

Or, do we simply step on them? Any civilization capable of reaching the planet Earth would be perhaps a Type III civilization. Therefore, for the most part, a Type III civilization would operate with a completely different agenda and message than our civilization.

Let\'s say that a ten-lane superhighway is being built next to the anthill. The question is: would the ants even know what a ten-lane superhighway is, or what it\'s used for, or how to communicate with the workers who are just feet away? And the answer is no. One question that we sometimes ask is if there is a Type III civilization in our backyard, in the Milky Way galaxy, would we even know its presence? And if you think about it, you realize that there\'s a good chance that we, like ants in an anthill, would not understand or be able to make sense of a ten-lane superhighway next door.

So this means there that could very well be a Type III civilization in our galaxy, it just means that we\'re not smart enough to find one.

As for psychics, magic, ghosts, loch ness, big foot, and the rest - I don\'t believe in any of them. It\'s simply the lack of any evidence.

I don\'t believe in anything listed there, except that there are probably aliens somewhere in the universe.

All those \"conspiracy theories\" are too hard to swallow, they\'re probably the tree hiding the forest. People get distracted chasing after UFOs and think that the government cannot really hide anything from them, while real top-secret experiments are led in the greatest secret and no one of us will never know about it.

For the so-called monsters, they\'re just modern legends, as people of the middle age used to believe in elves and goblins.

We can never prove that these so called monsters doesn\'t exist, so they will always exist, for good and bad. I think that there very well could be some sort of old Homo Sapiens in the mountains of Nepal. The loch ness, not sure. I want to believe that there still are monsters and dinosaurs left though.
About ghosts and spirits, yes, I believe in them. I refuse to think that life just ends when you die. I think this life is just another phase in the big life. And perhaps there are spirits left here, who knows?
Psychics? Hoax. It\'s all just a big hoax.
Magic as it is in games? No. Magic as in some sort of unlocked force in our brains that we still haven\'t discovered? Possible. We know so little about our body.
Aliens? Of course. There is no reason why there shouldn\'t be another Tellus out there. If they are smarter than us, or equal to us, or if they just are wandering feasters, I\'ll let the pros decide.

After all anything and everything could be possible and untill somebody comes up with some irreputible evidence for it that I can see for myself. Also even things we base our lives on today and take for granted may very well turn out to be just absolutely stupid in the future, after all people used to \"know\" that the earth was flat or they used to \"know\" the earth was the centre of the universe.

Most of those things (ghosts, loch nessie, bigfoot, ...) could be as normal as a handful of earth to us if we had sufficient knowledge, information and understanding  - but since we havent, we claim it to be abnormal & (un)believeable. We use word for those \"phenomenons\" that are as vague as the object/idea we are talking about.

I think the quote kbilik posted show exactly how much understanding we posses of our surounding (~0).

I do think aliens exist, but I doubt any are advanced enough to get here. And about intergalactic empires and such... two civilizations being close enough to each other is unlikely enough. But we do live at the edge of the arm of our galexy...

Ghosts do not exist.

Magic? Magic stated in the Bible was likely a trick if the eye. Miracles stated in the Bible came directly from God, and it was even stated, in the Bible, that magic is different from miracles (specifically that moses\'s staff actually became a snake, while the magicians staves only were aused to look like snakes. There\'s a difference there). If magic existed, there would be some instance of it somewhere for scientists to study. And if it ever existed, there would be records of it.

Psychics are usually just trying to trick people. Somebody should try to figure out how many really believe in what they are doing.

The loch ness monster could only exist undetected if it had some sort of cave or tunnel to go in. Personally, I think it was hyped up so more tourists would come.

Bigfoot is almost definately real. It would be much harder to find than the Loch Ness Monster, there have been more sightings, and it is an animal pretty similar to many animals proven to exit. I doubt there is only one, though. But it\'s been a while since Bigfoot was first reported, they may have gone extinct for some reason or another.

I stayed in Roswell for a month last year.  For all I could gather (visiting the UFO museum and other places of interest), the whole thing is BS.  The UFO or what ever it was that crashed actually crashed in Corona, New Mexico (about 25 miles from Roswell).  There is not one single shred of credible evidence anywhere I had been, just a bunch of theroys and stories gathered by people over time. The only aliens I saw there were of the illegal variety.  :rolleyes:
