Equipment with skills
« on: January 16, 2004, 02:06:35 pm »
I dont know if this has been posted before, but if you choose a profession you need the equipment to do your profession. Like a lumberjack needs an axe, a Baker needs an oven(and stuff) a bowyer might need a knife (to cut the wood) but a bowyer also needs wood, from a lumberjack, and that economie I know.

But what I mean is, do we get equipment when we start with doing a profession, I didnt read about it on the planeshift site I just wanted to ask.

Thx all :)

We really dont know yet. When Crystal blue comes out we\'ll probally hear info on jobs soon after the release. I seriously dont crystal blue will have jobs though. I dont especially think we should have start with the career objects though. We should have to earn them. Lets say your... A buisness man. Do you start with 4000 cash to build a buisness? Or do you start with a free house? Whatever you gets gotta be expensive so whats stoping you from taking that money and trading it to a main account and making a lot of money real quick. To risky just dont like it.

yes you\'re right, ppl might exploit the extra equipment they get. But how do you get started then? If you dont get anything you must go buy it, so that would mean you get extra money.

And what is the use of chossing a profession in the beginning of the game, if you cant use it?

well i think priston tale pulls it off quite elegantly. You start with nothing. You have just high enough stats to kill basic monsters with your bare hands. You get money from those monsters and work your way up. But planshift is a game where jobs are going to be as much of the game as the fighting is. So we would have to make errand quests just as important as the fighting. That way people could make money by doing simple little errands. Or doing small odd jobs that give  good ammount of money for a mini job. Like delivering mail lets say. Or working at a bakery if ur cooking is pretty good. Then with that money you can start your real profession. Or if you have a good friend, he might lend you money to jump start your game.

well whemyfield... there-is-no-businessman-job, nor anything close to it, so it was very, very bad example
what\'s wrong with getting some small-value items?
you\'ll get much more from picking \"very rich\" thingy.
So I don\'t see anything wrong with this idea.... besides that it\'s in wrong section...
