How about that each guild get something to recognise them by, for exaple, I have started a japanese-influenced guild, and we could have Katanas (long sharp flat japanese swords) which would just count as long swords or something...

Could be cool...

maybe like the item what ever it is could only be made by someone in the clan like weapon/armor smiths jewlers etc  and how good the item was should be based off of the players skill that made it if your clan gets swords like that i want in :-)

yes i originally had a post where i thought we should be able to customize our weapons but people thought it would cause too much lag uploading the weapons so maybe having guild specific weapons would be a good idea. maybe making a unique weapon would be a requirement to be an official guild! Even taking it further than just costomizing them we could have unique weapons for each guild. EX one guild have whips while others have pikes and others have bows. at the very least there should be prefered clan weapons that are the generic weapon for that guild.

it sounds like a really cool idea but how could it be programmed so that the custom creation thing would work or how could the devs go around making weapons for each guild for everyone to update ?

Well when you make a guild you could make a custom weapon then send it through email with your guild recognition email and then the devs could put it in game and all you would have to do is run the updater to see the weapons. each update for the weapons would only take 1 minute tops so everyday you just wait one minute more which really isnt much. and this update would only happen once a day or even better once a week.

Maybe the updater could be default when you run the PS application. But, not every guild should be able to get special weapons... only proven ones or something...

eh i dont know. there are some guilds although not big, but are recognized. personally i think any recognized guild should be able to have a special weapon. these guilds have to be recoginized by the PS team. that is the only way they can have their personal weapons in the game.

all i\'m gonna say is its not really fesable.  for one, where the hell are Japs in the PS story line?  this is an RPG remember....  second its gonna take a hell of a lot of work to do, especially if the ps team is gonna do each thing by hand.  

a better idea would be one influenced by Dark Age of Camelot.  Each guild can make a customized cloak from diff combinations of preset styles, pri and secondary colors and a symbol.  creation cost would be something like 300 tria, so that guilds have to somewhat pool their money to get one (or atleast have a wealthy member). also each cloak costs 10 tria to specially dye  

it doesnt necessarly have to be a cloak, but the point is have it pre programed in, and cost a decent ammount of money to eliminate 1 person guilds from being to afford a cloak as a newb.  even if this is added, i dont expect it comming any time soon unless someone volunteers to specifically do it

First i really dont appriciate your racial slur such as jap but the japanese guild was just an example made by the first post.

2ndly it is very possible to just make your own customizable weapons your self and send them to the devs. I never said the devs should ever have to do anything except post it.

 3rdly 300 tria is very cheap and i think this feature should be free. Well free as in if you have to have a long sword or the generic type of weapon you want to modify. you can just create a customized long sword out of nothing.

The developers said they would be implementing xml so all the guild/clan weapon script could be done in xml so the only thing the updater would have to download is ?guild.xml? and the guilds weapon file I?m am not sure that the file type is but I?m sure the dev would post information like that if such a feature was implemented so the clan could make the weapon/item file then summit it then all a dev would have to do is place a few tags in the xml file and poof guild/clan item

Ps. a guild by definition is ?a group of people sharing in the same trade or skill? so a guild should be made up of people with the same job that way they could trade secrets and help each other out that is kind of the point of guilds but most games because of there lack of depth use the term guild to describe what is basically a club

I never ment jap as a racal slur, i use it as short hand, i have nothing against the japanese.  the first poster wanted katanas, which are a japanese sword.  as i stated, this is an rpg, set in a different world.  i only see japanese weapons or anyother specific cultural items to be in the game if the devs work it into the story of the setting of the game.  Since i havent seen any mention of japanese related things in the backround story, i doubt there will be katanas, that was my point.

2nd, how do you propose you make the weapon your self? download gmax and make some uber model and send it in? they still have to code it in and write the rules, not only taking time and work on their part, but bloating the game\'s code

i used 300 tria as an example, in daoc it was 300 gold for a guild to make a cloak, and usually it took a bit of time and effort to get that sum. the point of the fee is so that some newb who is \"level 1\" cant make their own cloak.  you want unique weapons that only the prestegious can get, then you might appreciate the price tag.  its only one measurement that could be taken.  Modifying a weapon isnt as easy as it might seem, first a model would have to be made and properties assigned to it, and then rules coded in to make sure its used properly and only people from guild xyz can use it etc.  again not only does this take time and work from the devs which could be spent fixing bugs and stuff, it bloats the code.  even if each specilized weapon only takes a meg of space, immagine how many guilds there will be.  500 times 1 meg is half a gig, most likely more that the actual game is.  not to mention the code used to implement a gui to customize said weapon if the process were to be automated.  if you dont understand what i\'m talking about, spend 3 years learning how to program and get to basic 3d applications, and you\'ll see.  what you want isnt feasible in the sense of effecincy.  

its a great idea, but not likely to be implemented, atleast not exactally to the effect you are talking about

It doesn\'t take that long to learn to program :D and designing something in 3D MAX is pretty easy to learn too - it\'s not really that bad - besides, many of us in the PS Community already have these skills even if we aren\'t lucky enough to be helping the DEVS directly.

All weapons can be dated back to some culture. I really hope katanas are in the game because they are the highest quality swords made in history (I like to imagine the techniques used to make an elven blade would be similar) AND the char I RP uses one.... :D
