Supernatural Warrior Abilities
« on: January 19, 2004, 09:43:46 pm »
I know, there will be no classes, but in D&D wizards at high level pwn fighters. This is not cool. I propose high-level warrior types have some supernatural abilities, or at least something beyond the laws of physics in the real world. Something to turn magic maybe... you can post ideas.

Maybe, instead of just using the sum of warrior skills, we could use the level idea I posted in the \"RolePlaying In Its Purest Form\" thread.

Or magic skill levels could give skills based on warrior-style skill levels...

Gr8 idea.  :D

I think that I should turn into a Demi-God once I become ub3r, so I can kick n00b butt. :D :P

Not a good idea..... Fighters at the same skill level as the wizard should be an equal match for a wizard. (The ub3r armour...)

I play anarchy, and nobody but the most powerful Doctor (healer/damgage over time class) and/or trader (drainer of abilities class) can have any chance of ganking a high lvl Enforcer (warrior class)

I don\'t like that very much, since equality should be an ideal that is kept within reason.. but since there aren\'t any classes in PS, I fear that one combo might own all others and create unbalance in the game...

What about drow figter lvl20 vs Human mage lvl 20.

I dont think that will be pwnage. Drows spell resistance (11+class lvl) makes it a bit hard for mage to blast his spells so easily ... The first spell fails and drow knocks the mage down and the fight is over.

Another example. Lvl 20 fighter walks around corner and sees lvl 20 mage near him. The fighter charges and makes it impossible for the mage to concentrate.

Third example. A fighter gets invisibility from a magical ring and notices mage who is aware but doesnt notice the fighter. Its done pretty soon.

Of course there is a chance that the mage uses metamagic or true seeing or has a companion but those are good examples for not to use word \"pwn\"

I would want something like a x-men ability, as teleportation, telekinesis, regeneration of health, or something. Should be almost unlimited in use, but has it weaknesses.
Could be chosen from start and trained, or rewarded later in the game.

I reckon it\'ed be cool aye if you could choose a few special attack skills and be able to spend exp points on them and your special attack skills would gradually grow stronger.

each special attack skill would be diferent in different fighting classes but equally powerfull in its own way.

eg 20% attack bonus for 10 secounds or somethen aye
or 20 added atack speed or somethen.

except these special skills would have to recharge there mana or somethen so that you carnt use them unfairly all the time.

it think it would make leveling a bit more fun and different.

Supernatural abilities are for gods and lesser gods only, and it should be kept that way. If someone is awarded a supernatural ability, he is positioned higher in the world than all other normal people, meaning he is either a god or a lesser god, and this gives him responsibility, and therefor he can\'t use this ability to pwn people.

If mages pwn warriors, simply make it more difficult to be a mage so there\'ll be less mages and more warriors. Besides, if you\'re a really pwnage warrior, you\'ll already know how to pwn mages, and it isn\'t really that hard if you take the time to study mages and study how they work.

Know your enemy. :)

Methinks that one can only go so far with physical/combat abilty - if you seek greater power than that, you would have to pursue either politics, organised crime, or the arcane arts.

Me? I\'d go for all three, and skip the combat.
