Well, just an upgraded version with more features, with layer effects and such. Go with 7.0 or CS... the higher the upgrade, the more flexibility you have.

I used to use PS6 and didn\'t upgrade to 7 for a long time. But when I did, I wasn\'t sorry. PS7 gives you alot more freedom and flexibility, and the general layout has been improved a bit. I believe layer styles (darken, light burn, overlay, etc etc) were only introduced in PS7... although I may be wrong. But if this is correct, I could never go back to version 6 without them. :)

same here, those features meant a great deal in my sig making for various stuff :) couldn\'t have done most of them to my own satisfaction without those feats...

PS7 is great, use it every day. But, if you can get a late version of CorelDraw, it ain\'t bad at all. I use it and it really gives your work another look.

I always upgrade my software as soon as a new version comes out, so I\'m using PhotoShop 8(Creative Studio) right now, it has some new filters and 1 or 2 new layer blend filters, The GUI looks a bit better and the program works smoother and faster, but overall I don\'t think to much has changed.

i still prefere the GIMP ...especially the 2 version ...it looks awesome :D ...and it\'s free, no need to get our hands dirty with pirating :P

http://www.gimp.org

...but it all just depends on your taste in the end ...at the elysiun forums someone said (a gimp and blender user): \"it\'s not the tool that makes the art ...it\'s the artist!\"

p.s. i\'m by no means an artist ...even if you put me behind a ultra-fancy-and-expensive SGI workstation i\'ll be just as good :P
