Dark Way
« on: January 23, 2004, 10:06:26 pm »
Something just occured to me - Followers of the Dark Way can summon undeads, but in Ylian Culture, bodies are thrown down shafts so there will be a shortage of corpses.... Are Necromancers going to have to steal and horde dead bodies?

(I\'m not sure if this has been brought up before....)

Now theres a dark question for ya.

Maybe they can only summon the dead from a recent battle. You know before the corpse is destroyed. :)

It\'d be cool if you could hunt down monsters, kill them and then raise their bodies to serve as your undead servant once it has been felled. :) You\'d probably only be allowed a couple at a time, otherwise you\'d eventually amass an army...

Nothing wrong with an army...

So i was thinking, how about Necros can only summon things they or their group killed

Q: How many Planeshifters does it take to expalin a simple concept to a newb?
A: Six. Five to argue on who\'s explanation is right, and Moogie to lock the thread.

yeah or maybe only the spirit of the dead will come. maybe just \"ghosts\" will be able to be summoned. Or if you can summon a powerfull enough spirit they can materialize themselves into a scary looking foe that does more damage.

PS: nothing is wrong with an army :P

Probbly its gona be like in DiabloII exept better, the more skill in summoning you have the better the summon, maby eventualy you\'ll be able to conjoin dead beasts into one \"mega-dead best\" (that took little imagination)...

Well i hope that the final presentation of summoning will have a little more imagination than that. There are some great possiblities with summoning im hoping they dont go wrong like so many other games.

OK  so here is an idea.  What if the do it like in the movie \"Jason and the Argonauts\"    Rember the Hydra teeth that became skeletons when they where thrown on the ground.    The  Necormancer may have to prepare special bone chips and then they can be used in his spell.   one chip per skelelton.   This way he can be limited by the number of these he can prepare per day etc... or maybe you can make the chips a rare thing.  Such as onle one in 10 or more mobs has a chance to have a usable bone to make them.

Just some ideas.. who knows how the mystical energies of magic will work in the world to come.

Jason and the argonauts? WTF? lol anyways yeah i think summoning should have to use some sort of material be it bone for skeleton type things (you cant have a game without skeletons i mean everything has a skeleton except for goo monsters) and other materials for other monsters. its too bad we cant talk about monsters much. wish the devs would release some more monsters so we know what were talking about here.

It\'d be cool to take Mogura\'s idea and then make the act of raising deadmonsters into an art in itself with abilities to add pieces together creating an undead chimera type thing
