HELP
« on: January 31, 2004, 03:47:38 pm »
Hey,

Everytime planeshift starts connecting to the server it brings up this:

psclient.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.

then there is Exception information code: 0xc0000005

I also have this problem when trying to use Outlook Express, I can use Outlook offline fine but when I connect to the net and try to view my mail right after i download it, it will give me a similar error.

I have also removed my memory sticks 1 at a time to test and it still gives me problems.

Thanks

My friend has the very same problem as you, and he also doen\'t know what to do.

every time he want to log in the world gets loaded and then there\'s this window popping up and it says that there\'s a fault in psclient.exe and the programme just shuts down :( .

Anybody knows what to do??

he already tried to run the updater, re-install, other account name etc.

but nothing works HELP.......

Thnx

Try some general maintanance on your machine- update drivers, scan for viruses, close any other programs you may be running before you try and load PS...

What are your system specs? Perhaps you\'re running out of RAM. PlaneShift requires at least 256mb in most cases, although I highly recommend having more than this.

Have you tried checking each of the .part files with the MD5 sum checker tool, found at the bottom of the downloads page? Any corrupt files should be re-downloaded before you compile them and create the Setup exe.

Aside from that, I\'m not really sure what you can try. Good luck guys. :)

Did this used to happen before downloading PlaneShift? Or only after? Seeing as PS has nothing to do with OE, then it would suggest that it is a system problem. Like Mogura said, check system stability and such first.

Can\'t help you other than that, I just wish I knew what \"0xc0000005\" is :)

I don\'t think it\'s due to a lack of memory - this possibly represents either a bug in the planeshift code or a faulty component (driver or something similar).  Is there any way to get more info about the crash?  0xc000005 is really quite meaningless, except that it indicates that a program tried to access memory that didn\'t belong to it.  This is usually the result of some bug (most likely in the PS code).

You could try messing around with compatibility modes, that might be the swift kick that it needs.  Short of that, all I can suggest is \"wait for CB\"

General memory address.

Most likley a NULL pointer, which makes an app crash if it is accessed
