No. Not for the next release ( Crystal Blue ) either. Could be on the books for the release after CB.

There should be a basic crafting system in the next release.

Yes, there are about a dozen or so weapons that are equippable. Much more ( hopefully! ) for next version for things like shields.

Not yet, next version will have a basic combat/spell/melee system.
5)Do traits & skills have an in game use yet?

Next version will have basic progression and combat/crafting will use these skills.
7)Are there any plans for a 2 sided battle? like realm vs. realm in DAoC?
It is an interesting idea. I think any big battles like this will be GM events of monsters from the Stone Labyrinths.
