A demon by the name of Brack?Fel long ago sought to rule over the Hell Dimension. He gathered to him an army of the damned; an army of only the most disfigured and malevolent. His armies rode forth and stole Hell nation by nation from the arch-demons, who were forced to retreat again and again.
One Night during his campaign of horror he saw a meteor scorch across the sky and land in the mountains of Naarkh Garth, taking it to be a sign he left behind his men and set out in pursuit of the fiery rock alone. A week later he found its resting place, as he entered the crater the rock spoke to him, soothed him, and lured him in like a siren. As he got closer he saw the meteor itself; it was bright crimson and twisted in such a way that it seemed to drain all life from the world. He felt it; at first it burnt with an unholy heat and seemed to suck his own warped soul from him. The heat passed, the rock was cool now, and yet Brack?Fel could still sense its evil, its deadliness.
He brought the rock back to his army?s camp; he forged it into a flail and dubbed it The Crimson Pain. It was his; it would wreak havoc upon his enemies and be a weapon worthy of his sadism. Brack?Fel won his campaign, and for 300 years the flail haunted him, gave him strength and made his rule all the more painful for the conquered.
Until, 300 years after winning his campaign, an angel by the name of Maya slew Brack?Fel in a duel above the Vortex; a mystical maelstrom linking all the dimensions. Maya cast the Crimson Pain into the Vortex where it fell through the dimensions into Yliakum, buried beneath a crooked oak it lay dormant for 100 years.
However one summer?s morning after an almighty storm the oak was uprooted, and a small crimson spike poked through the soil. A young Ylian by the name of Zephyrus chanced upon the oak, and its crimson secret.
And so it came to pass that for the past 10 years The Crimson Pain has served the rugged mercenary, who earned the title Bloodsaint by his weapon?s spiked wrath. Little does he know the dark history of his prized possession or what powers it truly holds.
