I would either go for a longsword/shield combo or a landsknecht flamberge (this is the classic image of the flamberge, even though a flamberge is actualy any sword with a \"wavy\" blade this is the sword most people think of, this was used by the largest and bravest of the german and swiss footmen as an anti polearm and anti calvary weapon.

If you would like to see one
http://www.medieval-ware.com has a good pic

It depends on the number of ennemies you have at the same time Khilandar...

Personaly :

- bastard sword or scimitar (a big one handed sword to resume)
- a shield

- an one handed crossbow as second weapon... (on Priston Tales ennemies doesn\'t like this configuration lol You see you run you shot you run you shout and they can\'t hit you...)
- still the shield because sometime ennemies has bows and crossbows...

- mythrill or chaotic armour : I really like seeing ennemies dying by hitting me lol
/me whistles and looks at the sky...

Oh yeah I forgot : healing spell too but it isn\'t a weapon...

Kilandar you obviusly do not know very much about martial combat if you think two swords are better than a sword shield combo. Also; two big swords? You have got to be jokeing the biger the weapon the harder it is to wield with one hand, and the heavier and harder to wield a weapon is the slower you are with it. So if we met an you were wielding say twin basttard swords and I had a longsword and shield I would cut you to pieces rather quickly. Combat is not about lookling cool (that does you no good if you die) it is about surviveing.

If I would have a choice I would use dual Katars.

-- If they aren\'t aviable I\'ll use hand-to-hand combat or Daggers

--> Think it would be more subtile than a Uber-Doubleblade-Axe-of-killing-and crushin\' or a Look-I\'m-A-Shiny-Knight-on-a-golden-horse-Long-Sword

Poor Animals lol!

I want to be a flame, to crumble to ash, but never ever burnt.

I want to rise higher, rise up to the heavens, but sink, just sink down deeper and deeper into nothing,

I want to be an angel, a chosen, a devil, but I am just a creature that ever wants what it wont get.

Do you really think that you\'ll be capable of wielding two big swords without gigantic maluses.

And shields are not for the weak but for the wise.

I would probably go with a nice longbow (or mongolian recurve if they are in the game, as much power as a longbow, but about 1/4 the size.) and a short german style hunting sword
Warning: Prone to common sense.

Perhaps not very original but i\'ll stick with swords. And perhaps a good bow/crossbow.

However a polearm is also somewhat appealing!

Hmmm, what to chose?!

\"Why?She never did anything to them. She never did anything to anyone. Why did she have to die?
I hate killing.\"\"I hate anything to do with killing!\"
\"I hate myself!\" \'sobs\'
The best thing about playing a character like this is that he becomes what the actions of others make him

who says you cant weild 2 great swords in one in each hand you realise they weighed only 10 kilos right? admitady weilding a 10 kilo sword with a long blade isnt easy due to leverage but erm if hes going to try that i think he would probably up str stat the most at chararcter creation.. what im trying to say is that the heavyest sword used was called the \"great sword\" in europe and the wieght varyed quite alot  from 6 and a half kilos to 10 i think 6 kilos is very easy to weild ;)

weight was only a minor factor to tell the truth however how long you can hold your sword and how fast you can swing it are both gretly affected by weight.

Take for example a landsknecht; I could easily hold one in either hand and yet if tryed to swing one with only one hand I could not hold onto it. A simple phisics lesson should explain: When an item is swong on a fixed point centrifical force is created which magnifys and concentrates wheight at the far end of the item.

So even if he was quite strong he would still have a very difficult time wielding duel large weapons.

whats a ranger without a longbow and a longsword? but I think Ill model after my NWN character: longbows and b*stard swords... with a bit of quarterstaff for edge.. seems to be very reliable

I hope you are strong... Very strong to have to carry those three weapons around with you, each is rather heavy you know?
Oh.. NWN does b*stard swords wrong, there is a reason they are known as a hand-and-a-half b*stard swords, you can\'t effectively wield it in one hand.
But as the other two weapons are both two handed, there is no real problem, as you are not trying to dual wield.

Edit: This censor needs to be context based.. In a fantasy game forum the term B*stard sword will be used a lot. Peanut sword sounds silly.

The weight of weapons is actualy alot less than people belive for example a the greatsword avalible at http://medievlal-ware.com/twohagrsw.html is only 84 ounces. It\'s size that matters when it comes to how easy they are to useand there are a great many people who can use b@stard swords in one hand however as strong as they are they are still slow while doing so.
